Didn't call my phone# but I received scam letter in the mail with this phone number asking me to settle with a creditor ( which was not named and the letter also didn't list a name). for $ 19K! Jokes on them because I don't owe anyone!  Hopefully no one falls for this scam. BTW Whoever you are, I'm going to make this my life mission to find you.

That address is a UPS store.  Common for criminals posing as debt collectors to use an anonymous mail address like that.  If you received a letter, this is what it is required to contain by law:

It must contain their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

So this is what you must do (do not call them back):

You need to send them a certified, return receipt debt validation letter (think of it as the best $6.47 you ever invested).  You also need to report them to the proper agencies to which I have provided links to.  Then you need to go out and get a consumer lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket) and let them pay you for the harassment.  If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt and we would all be the richer for it.  Use these web sites to find an attorney in your state that will probably take the case on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket up front):  http://www.consumeradvocates.org/

Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

    Frustrated and Needing Confirmation
Has anyone confirmed as to whether or not this is an actual scam?  I called 1-800-489-0633 (the number on the letter I received, which is also titled IMPORTANT CREDIT CARD ACCOUNT BENEFITS) before looking up the address online and reading these messages.  The address belongs to an office building, which contains several businesses including a UPS store, a mortgage company, and a PSA, among others.  I asked what the R.C. stood for when I called and the person I spoke with said that it was simply an abbreviation for Reduction and Consolidation.  I was told during the phone call that I would actually be referred to a law firm in the state in which I live that would handle all negotiations with my creditors.  This company just starts the process by finding the closest law office and explains the procedure involved in debt consolidation as well as the pros and cons of a consolidation settlement versus a consolidation loan.  I didn't give any personal information and would like to know if this business has been, in fact, verified as a hoax before I report them to Consumer Finance Protection.  I become quickly irritated if I find that I have wasted time on something that is not 'real'.  Because I am looking at consolidating, I would like to know if the scam has been verified, before I give out any personal information and have to spend additional time sending emails to government agencies and finding a consumer lawyer to handle the time I've already wasted.  There are very few companies that can be trusted anymore.  I shouldn't have to go to these lengths to consolidate bills.
