What studies are you reading that have proven that telemarketing and cold calling do not work? If they do not work then how are so many fortune 500 companies funding call centers that are for telemarketing purposes? Please do not speak of things that you are not educated on. It is not attractive and it just makes you appear..well..uneducated! Telemarketing does not soil anything. It is apparent that you do not understand these aspects of a business cycle and probably work in a restaurant and you accidentally received a call from a company providing an important and very legitimate service. I am so sick of people claiming "It's a scam, it's a scam". No. You are just uninformed and have never heard of this service and when someone called to inform you of it you automatically think it is a scam because you are somehow an expert because you read a blog about a guy that got an email that was stupid enough to respond with his bank information. You have soiled your own name by being ignorant! David=Ignorant.

"Mark" called from this number; and promptly told me that I didn't know what I was talking about when I indicated to him that we are no longer located at the location he was referring to (that was set up in 2006 on Google Places), and don't really have time right now to discuss it with him.  The email he mentioned as ours hasn't been used in 4 years, either.  I suggested that he could call back at a more convenient time if he wanted to give me his sales pitch, and he promptly replied that he "wasn't going to set up a blank-ing appointment to talk to anybody, I needed to stop what I was doing and talk to him right now."  Wow.  You're cold-calling me, trying to sell me advertising (which we NEVER pay for), and you tell me I don't know what I'm talking about and you're not willing to call back at a more convenient time???  Um...I don't think so, pal.  Nice try...not gonna happen.

This is 100% legit.  It is just sales people (yes, most likely an outsourced telemarketing group. Do people really think large companies staff their own telemarketing departments?) calling to sell Google adwords.  I got $100 free credit and never gave any credit card info or anything else.  The rep I talked to was actually very nice.  You may want to call her yourself- Nicole at extension 23887.

Tom, of course it is not *really* Google.  Fortune 500 companies hire telemarketing companies to place sales calls for them.  Heck, I have a company with only 4 people and we hire telemarketing companies to place calls for us.  And they are selling Google Adwords Express.  You cannot do this for free.  Yes, if you have a business you are on Google Maps for free, but this is advertising, not "showing up on Google maps"  I really can't understand all the crazy posters here saying what a scam this is..

I ask sales person some simple questions because she was offering my business free services. I asked the question, Are you going to try to sell me something later was. Her answer was .Boy you are so suspicious.

I find this to quite funny reading all the remarks on here. You people who write these remarks have no clue who is calling you. It's Google.

All they do is resell Google's adword service at an inflated cost. Want to advertise on Google? Sign up with Google directly so these parasites will go out of business.

I have gotten phone calls from india or oversees and had someone screaming and cursing at me. The FTC and Do Not Call List does not work 100%. We have illigal drugs brought into this contry and packaged and advertised to be something else. So this system we have has huge gaping holes in it. You obviously are not a realist. CASE CLOSED...

Got a call from them 3 days ago at 4 a.m. !!!! Today they called back at 5 a.m. !!!! I am PISSED OFF!!! Telemarketing 101... The first lesson is know what time it is when you call someones home!!! I am calling a manager once I calm down. Stupid, Stupid mistake!!!!! Didn't expect that from Google....
