- justbecause46Think it is coming from Bank of America.
- Caller: Bank of America
- DCAlso left a hanger card on my front door with #800-846-2222
Name: " Bank of America" - BeCarefulThreatening letter about foreclosure of my home and late morgage/fees. Addressed from Bank of America and arrived in Bank of America envelope. The paper was very thin, no watermark/other identifying features, had logo (but very simple), not signed by anyone, contact info vague, and very harsh/threatening wording.
Fake, Fake, Fake! Letter gave this number to call to ask for morgage info/support. Instead, I called Bank of America customer service number directly for assistance. They verified account info and said they did not send the letter. It is most likely a solicitor or phishing scam. Proceed with caution! - Spencer| 1 replyA card was left on my door saying "Important, Please Call 1-800-846-2222"
from Bank Of America.
It took quite a bit of searching, but I found it on their website...
That is a legitimate number for Bank of America. Look at Bank of America's website here - it shows that phone number.

scared the crap out of me. Thought it was fraudulent. what a relief - Confused replies to SpencerI keep getting a call from this number and they never leave a message. I finally decided to answer today and it was just a recording telling to call back at the exact number that was showing up on my caller id (800-846-222).
- banker101| 1 replyIts not a scam, pay your mortgage and you wont get these kind of calls from your bank. All banks are trying to help you save your home, but dont expect a hand out for not paying your mortgage for 2-3 years and expect your bank to wipe the slate clean. You still owe that money.
- pukuja replies to banker101I don't mind the defense of banks when it is appropriate; however, I will voice that trying to get Bank of America to help with a loan modification is worse than having root canals on every tooth in your jaw. You go through all the red tape to provide them with everything they want document wise, only to be told your credit score is too low and they can't help you. Really?? You suppose there is a reason why the credit score is low? Hello? I can't find work right now and borrowing money from relatives cannot continue. I don't want any additional money on a loan. All I want to do is refinance it at a lower interest rate (paying 7.5% for the last almost 18 years) and perhaps the payment will drop. All they were interested in was a "short sale". I am not and was never in foreclosure. I was late on a couple of payments but am current. My other bills are in dire straights but other than that, I see no reason why they can't help us. They would rather take people's homes away and put them out on the street, all in the effort to make more money. All the big banks are greedy and the ones who suffer are the little guys and gals like me. Don't they know that it costs just as much to rent these days as it does for a mortgage payment? You would think they would rather keep people in their homes and see what they could do to reduce the payments, even on a temporary basis, to help them stay there. Nope, they want people to be homeless so they can foreclose on the house and resell it to someone else. If there was a way to get my loan out of their hands, I would do it in a heartbeat. I just want to be with a bank who cares about their customers and puts them first, and foreclosure as a last resort. That's all I'm asking for ... give us homeowners a chance to get back on our feet. Done ranting. Need help with my mortgage still.
