- SRL| 3 repliesCall came from a person name Anna B. Message on an answering machine was from a very soft spoken voice requesting a return call to 1-800-849-6669. The agency name is Todd, Bremer, and Lawson. Sounds like a law firm but it is not. It is a collection agency.

- Real NameI have been harrassed by them for the last several years! They lied to me and told me they were a Law Firm and were going to sue me! This was during a time when I had a brain tumor! I did not even owe any money for my student loan because the IRS said they didn't have the "offsets" (taking my incom tax for years) on computer back then (1980's) so...I have not been credited for it!. The guy that called today is a collector and his name is Jeremy Husky and is listed on their website under Personnel as a collections manager. Check out the webiste. Looks like it's time for ME to get an attorney! Thanks for doing this whoever started these postings. Also, they have been doing inquiries into my credit report and I am on the DO NOT CALL list so they are in trouble!

- AnemicamourLeft a voicemail on my phone from Ms. Welch of Todd, Bremer, and Lawson. Saying it was VERY urgent and to please call them back. I never attended school nor did I take out any loans. There is NO reason they should be calling me, or any reason they should have my phone number. I almost did call them back, until I decided to type in the return number given to me in to google. Thank god for this website. Now I know to ignore their phone calls.

- Zombie Debtor replies to SRL| 1 replyTodd, Bremer & Lawson sent me a dunning letter for a 10 year old zombie debt that's outside my state's SOL and also outside the 7 year window for credit reporting. This is not a Sallie Mae or other kind of S/L, it's Registrar fees they're going after, which is not a protected debt like S/L's are.
This is the number they have listed on their dunning letter.
I disputed their letter and now waiting to see what they do. I haven't told them I already have an attorney; but if push comes to shove I will give her this work, too.
I've already slayed one zombie JDB, I will slay this one too. Let the FDCPA, TCPA and FCRA violations begin! - Not a Lackey replies to Zombie DebtorI got a letter today from Todd Bremer and Lawson INC. (scammers) asking for over $325. It listed a school I went to over 15 yrs ago. WTF is going on in this country? Are we going to have to start getting a Legal letter to give to an institution once we depart saying my bill is paid in full? This crap just pisses me off!
HTF and WTF do these folks think they are? Ar colleges in such bad fiscal shape they are just throwing BS to collection agencies to see if we'll pay up?
Seems like every time I turn around anymore someone in the gov't or "system" has the fricken hand out saying we owe them money.
MY GUESS IS THESE Collection Agencies pick every similar name in the book and send a note saying pay up--F__K Them!! - wiseoneIt depends on how much you owe as to what this company is willing to do. If I were you I would check my credit report and see if there is an inquiry there. If they have your correct name, address and phone number they have no reason to do a credit check....other than to be nosy, see what kind of assets you have and whether you are paying your bills. This is a credit bureau no no. If you continue to ignore requests for payment and your bill is (used to be over $100) they will report your bad debt, send you a series of form letters in various severity. Be careful with this company, don't pay them a penny more than your original debt was, no added fees (for processing etc...this is bs.). If you can pay your bill they are calling you on, call your original creditor, college, whatever and pay them directly, it will save you in the long run.

- Anonymous| 1 replyThese people contacted me regarding a school I have not gone to in 10 years. For a debt that I have and had zero knowledge of. If it is true, it is 10 years old. Has anyone had luck getting rid of these people? I am sending them an SOL letter and hoping it gets them off my back, this is ridiculous.

- wiseone replies to AnonymousIf you had a student loan 10 years ago or 20, it is never forgiven, you still owe the money. If you really have no knowledge of this debt, contact your college and have them send you a copy of the paperwork you signed along with documentation of the charges and what they were for. Don't pay this company, deal directly with the college/university.
- Pat TI would note that just because a school or bank is a legal institution doesn't mean that if some clerk there has your name on a spreadsheet, you owe them money. You owe debt that you incurred. People or institutions cannot just uniterally claim that you owe them money. If they tell you the item costs $X and you pay $X, that's it, you don't owe them anything. If anyone, including the original business with which you dealt, weeks or months or years later claims that you owe them something, or sells to some CA the right to collect something from you, you do not have to honor this. How many debts do you incur? The idea that you incurred a debt and just don't remember it seems implausible - - I would just tell them you don't owe the money and to stop contacting you.
- Eileen replies to SRLThey are scam artists, as far as I can tell. Sent dunning letter for education bill that was paid long ago. Threatened to counter sue the [***]. Let's see where they go from here.
- Ana LacayoThese people are scammed, they make themselves look like attorneys, my daughter owes a little over $4000.00 and now with their legal fees the loan is almost $6,000, I am wondering if as a collection agency they are allowed to charge legal fees, can anyone tell me if this is correct and who should I go for answer. I had been talking to a Kelly hall trying to figure out to resolve this matter and she ultimately sent me a 48 hours payment notice, because as she claimed we never even took the time to talk to her. I had to put her in her place and threaten to even call the white house and everyone at the top of Southeastern University, who got me in this mess in the first place. She demanded a certain amount and I told her what we are going to pay and that was it and she is not allowed to contact us by phone. I am a legal assistant, I know the law, so I made sure I used all the legal lingo, etc., I am making my daughter pay, because she owes but in our own terms. But I need to find out abut those legal fees.
