What a joke! Lady calls business and asks for owner by first name.  Tell her he is unavailable since she is calling from "unknown" phone number and I ask to take message.  She gives me her name along with this p/n and tells me it is her work p/n.  When I ask what it is regarding, she tells me someone told her to call him because he may be related to someone she is looking for??  It was quite obvious this was some sort of scam, so I asked for her home p/n.  Needless to say, she said she does not have a home phone number!

Stating I owed back taxes. (Didn't but...this is a 3rd party VIOLATION--according to Debt Protection Act.) So I called a company that are folks who sue these companies for this Violation...
You should call them too--no charge for collection of up to $1000. fines for this violation--and they can never call you again!

Received a call a couple of days ago and they wanted to know if I had a neighbor named .... that lived at a street number a few down from me.  Told her the name wasn't familiar but I didn't know but a few of the neighbors names.  She gave me her name as Holly Simmons and this number and ext # 3664 to call back or have them call back.  Don't think I will bother any of my neighbors

This company (presumably bill collectors) called my 80+ year old parents whom I have not lived with in 18 years in attempt to reach me.  What is wrong with these people?

A woman called me and asked me if I had my neighbor's phone number from across the street. I said no and then she asked me to do her a favor and asked my neighbor to call her. She told me she was calling from California and it was important that she contacted her and her name was Jessica and her phone number was 800-866-5317. She knew my neighbor's address and first name but not her phone number. She also knew my name and address. I got suspicious and asked the caller how she obtained all my data. She said that she called my telephone provider and gave them my neighbor's information and obtained all the data from everyone in my street that were listed in the phone book. I called my telephone provider and I was told that they never release any information about costumers because of privacy laws. I really don't know what the real purpose of this call is but It sounds like some kind of a scam.

Thank you so much for the advice. I re'cd a letter from them saying I owed back taxes. I do my taxes every year, and thought it was fishy that I would get a letter from a collection agency before a letter from the actual tax dept. I looked up the collection agency and saw your advice, so I called our tax dept and there is no such debt. These people are scammers. Thank goodness for your advice! Please...Let's spread this around to as many sights as possible. These people are crooks and should be behind bars!

Go to your local tax office.. don't give DCS any money!!.. Handle it yourself !! My mother retired from the state tax office recently & this is her advice !!!
I actually have received letters & calls.. but my tax amount is so little that I just put it off.. there is also a provision if you actually file vs. not filing.. so be sure and ask about that as well !! It may save you a lot of money !!

    Hello

My husband also got a letter from Dcs stating that he owes tax for 2008 in the amount of $16,000.
My husband never worked or resided in Virginia. He resided in Africa where he works. I was the one working there from 2007 to 2008 and we pay taxes together. I paid all my taxes. I left Virginia in August 2008. We never went there again.

How to fight this bogus claim? How you did it ?help.

DCS called my husband yesterday and is claiming my husband owes $ 16,057 in tax for the year 2008 in Virginia. We do not know where this one comes? I was in Virginia for a year from 2007 to 2008.  I worked there and paid my taxes . We pay taxes as couples and have all the pay stub for 2008. My husband was residing and working in Africa and his taxes managed by Kpmg for his expatriate status. He was coming to Virginia every times he could to visit, never worked there, no business. He never spent more than 10 days in a row, he had to go back to work. He just got his driver license there and voted thru a Virginia absentee ballot. that's it. We are in 2012 and are in Texas. First time to hear such a thing, never got any call for tax or whatsoever before yesterday. We are puzzled !
What to do and prove hat we don't owe anything in Tax to Virginia.
    Thank you.

That should have read Taxation Department.

DCS is notorious for sending out computer printouts of alleged debts which do not prove you owe anyone anything. This is why you need to contact Virginia directy to get this resolved.
