Caller ID said "Capital One".  Apparently spoofed number & Name.  Man with Indian accent told me my "profile had been recommended by Experian for interest rate reduction on my credit cards.  6%."  That raised a red flag, because Capital One uses Transunion.  Asked all the mundane "salesy" questions that require "yes" answer.  When he asked what my total credit card debt on all credit cards was, I ended the call.

Saw Capital one on the id. Told him to call me back. Called back with Discover on the caller id. When I asked him he said he represented both companies. I asked him to tell me my name and he hung up.

Called about reducing my credit card rate. It read capital one on the caller ID. When I told him to call me back, it read Discover on the caller ID ..pretty sure the numbers are legitimate but it’s not actually those people calling from those numbers.

Here it is Sept 2023 and they just called me about reducing interest rate. I told them I’d call 0back # on my card and she hung up. How can they still be using the same number two years later

Still the same "interest reduction" scam BS, spoofing Capital One's caller ID. Woman with a Filipina accent so thick that it was difficult to understand at times calling from a very noisy boiler room location. As soon as she said "interest reduction," I realized it was a scam and hung up. Thankfully, I had not given out any information up to that point.

Caller spoofed Capital One's business accounts department; claimed to be a representative working with or on behalf of Experian; wanted to know my approximate total debt---was claiming that my credit history made me eligible for random APR rate reduction across multiple accounts (lol); wanted to ensure my cards weren't expired and asked for an expiration date. I refused to provide one, caller hung up.

Same as above. Caller ID said Capital One. Lady had a thick accent and spoke very fast. I told her I was having trouble understanding her. She kept talking. Told her a second time I couldn’t understand her. She hung up. Called Capital One. Nope it was them. 🤬

Seems  some are spoofed calls, but calling the number goes to their customer support for 'Business accounts" and shouldn't be calling unless you initiated the call first.

Caller ID said Capital One.. He was informing me that he could lower my interest rate on my card.( I don’t have one). I told him I will call  Capital One myself. He hung up. Be careful because it is a Capital One number but they’re pasting it.

NOTE TO FUTURE READERS AND POSTERS: Be very careful about calls from this number. Based on posts in this thread and over on our sister site, it looks like scammers are spoofing the number/name. Looks like there are two possible scams: Reduce Your Interest Rate calls and plain vanilla Phishing.

Be careful what info you confirm or offer. If you have a reason to be talking to Cap One, better you call them yourself on a number you know is correct.

It does appear that Capital One uses this number for Accounts Payable at Capital One - as per their website. Scammers can be sneaky about spoofing legit numbers.
