Received a letter from "Sempra Energy" stating that my meter was reading higher than usual. Letter came from Billing Investigations and the address is a PO Box.

Not sure if this is a legit call?  Should I be worried about a potential gas leak and call back this number? The strange thing is that this number 909-305-8445 has So Cal Gas as the caller ID. A woman left a message telling me that my meter reading was higher than usual and that I should call this number.

The same problem as above. The number 909-305-8445 called me and a woman (Michelle) left message about gas leakage. She claimed she was calling on behalf of So Cal Gas.

A lady left a voicemail. She claimed to be "Mrs. Polk" from SoCal Gas.  She was calling because they noticed "unusual gas usage" from our "facility" at our address. She asked us to call back at 800-870-6711 between 8am-5pm Mon-Fri. I looked up SoCal Gas' contact information and they do not have 800-870-6711 listed as one of their phone numbers. So we erased the message.

Voicemail left from Miss Patty. Calling customers that have a higher the usual gas usage. They said they were So Cal Gas and left two 800 numbers but the call game from 909 305 8445.

I got same message, I think it is a scam

I received a letter in the mail today supposed to be from SoCalGas. It was from the Billing Investigations, it referred to our account number, name and our address. Basically it said we have had registered higher than normal usage on our meter. They said they had been trying to reach us to discuss the matter. So please call them Mon.-through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm . Or leave a message at 1-800-870-6711.        Needless to say I looked it up on the actual SoCal Gas web site and this phone number does not exist on their official site!  and then I found this thread.   SCAM!!!

A lady called my husband's phone and claimed she was from the Gas company she's said they did a Ariel and found that there was methane coming from our property and they need to come and do an inspection but when I looked on the website to the had company there was no number regarding this it did say we had an appointment scheduled but I cancelled it.
Because my husband has a electronic gas leak detector and he check our house thoroughly and there was no leaks.
