i got phone call from this num, i want to know whose num is dis

This phone number 800-878-7878 is not Bank of America. They sent us a notice that they received an address change request. We did not and I called BOA and they confirmed this is not a legitimate number

I also received 2 letters with this phone number listed on it. One notice is for a change of phone number, the other letter is for a change of address. They were sent to my home, but appear to be for my adult daughter, who hasn't lived with me for over 10 years. She's married and lives in another city, so I am very suspicious of these. I scanned the letters and emailed them to her, and then called her. She said she has no accounts or trusts with Bank of America (BoA), or US Trust (which is owned by BoA), so she's not sure what these are about. She had her ID stolen some time back, and earlier this year (2017) she discovered many loans, accounts, and credit cards where opened, or attempted to be opened, in her name, which has become an ongoing battle for her, and I suspect these letters may be related to that.

When I did a web search with only the phone number, many sites come up, including some as either BoA Pvt Wealth Management, in New York, NY, or U.S. Trust, but also a site for Thomas E. & Paula J. Christman Foundation / Find Grantmakers, and a few others others. So, based on all this, I'm thinking these are either bogus/fake/scam sites and letters, or that Foundation, or the other listed website, is bogus and may be a front for phishing scams.

However, I do have a trust account at US Trust, and I had put in a change of address and phone number for my children with the trust administrator, but that was done last year. So, I'm pretty sure these letters are likely phishing more attempts, but I'll call my trust administrator and find out, and report back tomorrow. If it turns out these are phishing scams, I'll report it to the local FBI in my city too.

As you can see below, the return addresses from the letters and for the US Trust office in Dallas are very close.

I've never had letters from US Trust with the 2nd address, nor are my communications from them ever titled as Client & Account Services, or as being from Bank of America. All this only adds to my suspicions of attempt fraud.

It is only one number different for the real US Trust PO Box.

I spoke with my account manager at US Trust this morning about these change of address and phone number letters, and the 800 phone number on them. She said the letters are real, she generated them herself, and apologized for having waited so long to make the changes and send the letters to both her old address (mine) and her new address (located in another city, which isn't all that new an address for my daughter, since she's lived there for 5 years already). My current account manager said she had just forgotten to do it, but luckily had come across a note to herself to get them done (and there were other notices to other clients that were delayed too), and so she finally did it. She also said it wasn't a high priority, in comparison to everything else she has to do, and she has no assistant to help her keep up with her work load; she went on to say the US Trust Dallas office is very short handed, which was why it took so long to find someone to take over the duties of my previous account manager.

After reading the phone number from the letters to my account manager, she said, "The phone number on the letter is correct; it is the generic US Trust/BoA Private Wealth Management office in NY, NY's toll-free phone number."

So, everyone, the calls and letters are probably not a phishing scam or attempted fraud either. Therefore, if you receive either a call from that phone number, or a letter with the address and phone number I listed above, and you personally didn't request the change(s), check with your parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings, and/or other family members who might have trust accounts at BoA or US Trust, of which you are likely a beneficiary of, or may be become one in the future.

I know it sounds crazy, but these things can throw people for a loop when they are not expected. For example, starting a few years ago, I received letters and bank statements in the mail about trust accounts I knew nothing of at JPMorgan/Chase. Then I got a few checks over time too. It turned out a distant cousin of my father's (a man whom none of my siblings or myself had never heard of), who had never married and had no living immediately family still alive, had passed away. His slightly older, unmarried sister (who also had no descendants) had also passed away, just a couple of weeks prior him. Both of them had had trust accounts at JPM/Chase that were being dispersed. My siblings and I received 1/126 share of the trust, which amounted to about $1,200 each. A nice, unexpected gift, to be sure.

I got a call today from this number claiming that she was with bank of america. Telling me that my credit card has been compromised. I told the young lady I do not have a credit card with bank of america and she kept insisting that I did.She gave me a different birthday.She gave me a different email address.And I kept saying to the lady.I do not have a credit card with bank of america. She went on to say that the credit card was used to buy a lot of guns and i'm responsible for it. And I repeated to her again, I'm not responsible for anything. I do not have a Bank of America credit card I even went so far to tell the young lady. I have bad credit. I told her my score is so low. I cannot get a Bank of America credit card. She would not stop.She kept saying that this was my card.Because it shows on her computer. So I did get very loud and rude with her, and she finally hung up the phone.
