- Pthis number came up on my phone yesterday. the voice mail said to call this number. Ironically I got home after work and received a bill for $1857.00 "this is a separate bill for the emergency physician at the hospital" I looked up my EOB for my ER visit and my insurance allowed $232.10 (which is going to my deductible) and this notice was on my EOB:
Remarks: You do not have to pay this. Your plan covers expenses at the plan allowance in the area that this service was done. Under your benefit plan, you are only responsible for any applicable copayment, coinsurance or deductible. If the provider bills you for an additional amount, please send us the bill at the address listed on the back of your member ID card and we will handle the bill. Make sure your member ID number is on the bill. Note: Some state laws do not allow providers to balance bill you if your plan is fully insured. Refer to your Plan Summary to confirm your plan's funding. You can also go to Aetna.com, select Disclosure Information, then State Specific Information for the state's regulation. [W39]
SO... this bill will be sent right to my insurance and this "billing company" can bite it. and the kicker...I do medical billing and this seemed really shady.- Caller: Legacy Physician Partners
- Bob BSome computer voice said it was a “ private message” from Patient billing accounts. Sounds like a scam. Not calling or paying squat.

- Debra J.They've called my husbands # more than once. This time they actually left a voicemail looking for someone we've never heard of regarding a personal matter. His phone identified the caller as "scam".

- TexyUsing my 94 year old mother’s name, claims to have private message concerning an account (gave phony account #) with our local hospital (used actual hospital name)Left a callback # 800-880-2056. Caller ID shows unknown #. Our hospital’s records were hacked recently, so I am this was a phishing scam to get personal info. Mom has no unpaid hospital bills & this is not the number for hospital billing locally
- Caller: Claims to be local hospital
- Stephanie MorganI told them I’ve already paid the bill and they still tried to say I haven’t. Wanted me to email copy of receipt that didn’t go through. Seem suspicious though because he kept talking really fast not wanting me to talk.
- Caller: Affiliate of Iredell Memorial Hospital they said
- Call type: Debt collector
- James Warters"Mandy" called "regarding a business matter" and provided a reference number. I finally tracked this down to a local hospital who apparently uses this "service" to collect outstanding bills. This particular bill was mailed 8/10 and paid on 8/28. I paid 4 bills that day, only one of which has not been credited. Two of the 3 people I have spoken with seem to be brain-dead drones. The calls are made on a very unclear voice-over-internet system and are almost unintelligible. And, they wanted me to pay a $3.50 "convenience fee" to process the payment. I'll be complaining to the hospital over this very unprofessional practice.
- Caller: Financial Corp. of America

- Christie replies to OMGThe called asking for my 15 yr old daughter! I pay my bills as well as have private insurance! No reason any bill collector should call me nor my minor child! This has to be a scam!
- D. CorderoThis company called and left a message claiming to be the patient account services from a hospital where I had a tonsillectomy years ago, but I do not owe any money to. They did not say my name, only gave an account number and said to call the same number back between the hours of 8-5 Central time. I'm on the east coast, so my hospital's patient account services would have a local number and be operating during those hours according to Eastern time. Don't know who these callers really are, but it must be scammers because I don't owe anyone.

- Kelli| 2 repliesI recently filed a fraud complaint with the Texas state attorney general’s office against this company identifying itself as North Houston Surgical Hospital claiming I had an outstanding medical bill for $216 from July 2022 (2 years ago) when I never had any services done with them or any of their doctors at that time (never even heard of them or live anywhere nearby). I started receiving letters in January and today got a robocall from this number. I believe this company may have obtained my medical information from a database breach and will be investigating that as well as possible insurance fraud.

- BigA replies to Kelli| 1 replyYou will need to send them a certified, return receipt debt validation (by law they have to go back to the original creditor to prove you owe the debt), cease and desist calling, or "not me" letter (this will be the best money that you have ever invested). Also send it first class mail in case no one will sign for it. Make a notation of that fact at the bottom of the letter. You also need to report them to the proper agencies to which I have provided links to. Then you need to go out and get a consumer lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket) and let them pay you for the harassment. If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt, and we would all be the richer for it. Use these web sites to find an attorney in your state that will probably take the case on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket up front): http://www.consumeradvocates.org/

Everything else you need to know follows including at least two or more federal and state agencies where you should report their criminal activities.

Looks like they are having trouble paying their bills:

They filed for Chapter 11 then Chapter 7. No wonder they are ignoring the FDCPA and other various state laws.
Looks like they get sued a lot also:

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it. You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter, email, or text (postmarked in the case of a letter) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. Unless they have communicated it to you verbally at the beginning of your conversation. It also must contain the “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this communication must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified. If and when you get that communication you should immediately send that debt validation letter by certified, return receipt mail.
First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.
List of State AG’s offices: https://800notes.com/faq/attorney-general - Kelli replies to BigABigA-Thank you for sharing this detailed information. I’m going to continue to pursue getting to the bottom of it and this will definitely help. It’s this kind of fraud and abuse that pushes up the costs of everyone’s healthcare, from doctor visits to insurance rates.
