I called them back. It's Sallie Mae.

I got a call from 1-800-880-8316 too! I tracked the number to Sallie Mae. It's a scam! They got my friend's number, my parents (I haven't lived with them for over 20 years!!), and my job! These people are annoying!!! If they are looking for business, this is not the way to get it!

These people keep calling my job too! They need to be reported!!!!!!!!

I got a letter from these people. But, it was connected to my student loan. They had all of my info. Claiming to garnish my wages. Could this be true?

This number is calling my friends saying I used my friends as a reference (not true), and now calling my work.  How did they acquired these telephone numbers?  Is there a violation of privacy on how they are obtaining this information?  Looks that way to me.  Should be prosecuted.

They call me too! My family members and employers have also received deceiving calls from them claiming that I have a job interview with them and that they are listed as a reference. They will try any way they can to get info from anyone they can.

THEY WILL GARNISH YOUR WAGES (for each individual Sallie Mae loan you you have) AND TAKE YOUR INCOME TAX RETURN. THEY HAVE DONE THIS TO ME!!

Just got a call from this number, too, and they made it sound like it was for a job reference (although they don't come right out and say "job," they just say I "was listed as a reference for Person X," which SOUNDS like a job or loan reference). Glad I checked here first!

They called and asked for date-of-birth and social security number right away to "confirm my identity".  Purported to be calling on behalf of General Revenue Corp, but I doubt it. They would not let me know what the call is about, but why should I care?

I just got a call from this number, as well. It comes up as "toll free call" and they say it's a "personal matter" but that they can't verify who they are or what it's regarding without verfying personal information. Hello! Shady much? They had the last 4 of my social, then wanted me to tell them my date of birth and address. No.
With all the fraud out there, I'm not verifying squat to an anonymous caller. If they have the address and my name, they can send a freakin letter!

They called me for my daughter who has not lived at home since 1998 and said she used me as a reference and need to speak with me.  The kicker is they called me on my CELL phone, which is not a listed number anywhere and I only give it out to friends and family.  They have obviously been calling around to get in touch with her, and that should be illegal.  One of our neighbors came running to our house in pouring rain because they called and said they had an emergency call for her and could not reach us.  Shameful people.  I reported them but I doubt it will do any good.

Called me on my direct work extension which is not a public number and also my friends cell phone which I would NEVER give out. Ridiculous and not appreciated. They misrepresented themselves to my friend saying I used her as a work reference. Nope. Not even in the hunt for a new job.

Some person keeps calling my cell phone and my mothers cell phone at all hours of the day/night and every day threatening me that i will lose my job and that my income will be garnished . i made a deal for hardship with the student loan people of 5 dollars a month as i'm under alot of hardship and undue stress .i am legally blind , have diabetes and spine issues as well as nerve damage to my extremities. I asked them to send me a letter with the address so i can verify it is real then i would send money . they refused . I am going to contact an attorny and have them prosecuted for harrassment and violating my constitutional rights

I just received a call from this number I didn’t answer it but they left a message asking for a reference for a person that I have not seen or spoken to in 10years. That I should call back and ask for Heather and give the reference number left on the message.  I read what others had to say, I’m not calling them back. It’s a scam.

They have called my cell phone and my parent's house (where I never resided), stating I was "Under investigation" regarding an old ex-boyfriend's brother?!? Unreal. Scary how deep they dig....
The first time, I told them I have no affiliation with him or Sallie Mae, and to leave me alone. They clearly didn't understand.
I'm guessing they want money. Sorry sister, not getting any from me.

Received 2 voicemails so far from "Brooke" asking that I call back in regards to someone I've never heard of and gives a reference number. I'm not curious in the least,  they won't be getting a call back.

This company continues to call our house randomly asking for people we do not know. We are not returning the call! They even provide a reference number to make it sound official not getting involved.

This number calls me day and night several times a day.  They even called my daughter who hasn't lived at home for years.  They are relentless and ridiculous.  I am done with these scam callers.

Sallie mae, navient group, ecwc corp, general revenue corp. This number is a scam. Never give out your as number,birthdate, address, nothing. Tell them send a letter if they believe they have anything.
Give them no info and tell them to hold. Pull up google and read your rights to them. Then hang up.
