- Not so gullible on East CoastWhen I answered a call from this number to my cell phone--which is on the do not call list--a man said something like, "Grandma, is that you?" When I did not say anything, he said, "Grandma?" I knew from the outset that this had to be a scam and just hung up. When I Iooked up the number, it was for a tire store in California and I live on the East Coast. This was probably someone just fishing to see if they could get a gullible senior to send money to a "grandson" having car trouble out of state. I don't think the tire store had anything to do with the call, except that someone made the call from there or patched through their number to make the call.
- Caller: National Tire Warehouse (in Benicia, CA)
- Jam2000I answered the phone as I was in a room that did not have a phone that I could not check the number and I was expecting a call from the Doctor.. When I answered the person said Hello Grandma and I stated I'm not your grandmother and he hung up
- AnonymousOne of those so called went to jail scams. They called my phone saying this is your grandson which I don't have one. I knew it was fake, so I tried milking this idiot for more information.
- AnonymousCalled 11/30/2016 at about 7:55 Am PST. Said he was my grandson and wanted me to "Grab a pencil and paper" to write down his lawyers contact number. I tried to keep him on the phone so he would have less time to call other people. He hung up.
- anonymous| 1 replyReceived a phone call from a "grandson" asking for help just like all the replies above. Funny thing though, he knew my husbands name. Makes you think that someone may be listening in to your phone calls.

- Not Telling800-888-7654 - got the grandma call... told me he had a car accident, broke his nose, totaled his car and had no money. Told him "well, that sucks." He was like what? "That sucks." Said he needed help... "that sucks - fix your own damn problems." If I had more time, I'd have screwed with him longer....

- S| 1 replyI'm a caregiver & this number called my client's house & the 92 yr old husband (hard of hearing) answered. I got on another phone & listened in. It was a girl doing the whole ' 'grandpa?, do you not recognize me?' thing & not saying who she was. He kept saying 'huh'. She said 'Did you hear about by trip?'Said she came in because her friend had cancer (& died), then she got in a car accident. She started to pretend to cry & say she broke her nose & failed the breathalyzer (later said she failed it by 1 pt), so she was in jail. Needed to write down case# R031, because her lawyer would be calling & needing it. I finally told her she had the wrong number & she said 'really?' & I told her again & she hung up...Old man thought it was funny some little girl was calling him grandpa & looking for her grandpa. He said then her momma got on & said she had the wrong number. Ha
- GIGISNOWFLAKEI normally do not answer these calls 8008887654 but i was on way for eye surgery, guy said, hello grammaw, he had a rather slumlike accent, i said what? He said some word resembling grandma though he did not have a foreign accent meaning from a other outside the us. I hung up and tried calling the scam no. It rang and they put it on busy, we must get the word out to seniors, do not answer unidentified calls
- Caller: HV NO IDEA, HE SAID HELLO GRANDMA
- Call type: Prank
- Mrs A replies to SSomeone called my parents a few days ago with the exact same story. Said he was my son and he had traveled to Pennsylvania for a funeral, and got into an accident and failed a breathalyzer. Luckily my dad asked the right questions (like "What is your last name?"), which the caller got wrong and told him it was a scam and he wasn't falling for it. The caller then started cussing out my 74-year-old father and then hung up, but not before asking for my mother by her first name. Creepy...
