- kma replies to Randy B.| 10 repliesJust got a creepy pre-recorded message telling me that I had a $475 credit on my Verizon cell phone account. Yeah, sure, I do....... Yuck!!!!!!!
- jsherp replies to kmaI just listened to the last part of a robo-called voicemail on my cell phone telling me to go to Verizon.com to get my $475 credit.
It could be legit, but I canceled my verizon service 3 months ago and switched to one of their competitors, so they can keep their credit. - Chris P.I keep getting them and I'm not even a Verizon customer....
- Laurel| 1 replyI just got the same creepy recorded message saying Verizon cares about me and is giving me 480.00 to apply towards my account. Yuck..
- Laurel replies to LaurelThe message said to log into : www.vzw480.com
- MYes - They have called my Verizon cell twice this morning - 20 minutes apart. I will not answer these calls. Very annoying!
- j| 1 replygot the same message said I had 480 credit with Verizon. spoke with Verizion they it a scam
- Call type: Telemarketer
- F| 1 replyI got this call, don't have Verizon. So I looked up the company that owns the number, it's Cox Communications. So I called them and reported it, they started a fraud investigation to hopefully close down the number. They took down the number, the website, and even tried to call it while I was on the phone. The lady sounded serious at least.
- JSSame message from 800-888-9599! Yay...........$480!! But wait, I'm not a Verizon customer anymore, switched to StraightTalk last month. Like other commenter said, they gave the website address, which required entering your Verizon ID & password, then re-directed you to the Verizon site. Not a problem for me, since my account is close. But BEWARE CURRENT VERIZON CUSTOMERS!!! Someone will have your Verizon wireless ID and password, then can access all of the info in your Verizon account! Sick of scams! Verizon needs to check for security breaches & scams!
- j| 1 replyI got the same thing. 2 calls. 20 minutes apart. I didn't answer either
- ananymous| 1 replythis number has now been recorded to Verizon wireless its not true in any aspect
- ananymousI meant reported in my previous comment sorry
- L| 2 repliesDoes anyone know if there was a recommendation on what security steps to take if you are a Verizon customer? Thank you in advance for your insight/response.
- SamanthaIf this is a fraudulent scam then this number needs to be shut down.
- VexedJust got call. 3rd time in 3 days, never picked up. Calling Verizon to block number
- Dee| 1 replyGot that call on my cell this afternoon. Was a recording about my Verison account. I don't have nor have I ever had verison. Hung up before they got much further. I'm on the do not call list as well but I'm starting to think that the DO NOT CALL list is useless.
- doubting thomas| 1 replyI' had this 2 weeks in a row, Didn't answer this week.
Last week it was the creepy message about my Verizon bill. No one in our home is a Verizon customer.
Apparently the do not call list and complaints to the FTC web site are another worthless government program and waste of money and my time!
I'm going to lay it on Verizon's doorstep since it's someone claiming to be able to provide credit on a Verizon bill.
Anyone have other advice?- Caller: Verizon?
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Tamianth replies to DeeD, the DNC doesn't keep the unscrupulous from calling. Extortionist, frauds and scammers don't obey laws. Its only going to keep honest business's honest! The DNC listing is very misunderstood simply said. If you added in all the business's that use the DNC, the phone would never stop ringing..
What your seeing most of the time is the ones that don't obey the law, spoofed phone numbers most of the time, they even spoof legitimate company's.. anything to try and get your info to scam. Oh there's a couple of unscrupulous outfits that don't care and disobey, they generally get caught up with and it costs them! But most are just extortionist and scams...
Do file reports on those numbers. The reports do help law enforcement. Sooner or later, karma bites them and they get caught. Some of those though are in foreign country's and those country's need to work with our's to catch the crooks and shut them down! - Tamianth replies to doubting thomasSee my post above! Then file those reports!
You can also buy a call blocker to help out, and you can also sign up for a political DNC list.
