- Concerned ParentIt appears this company also uses 800-536-4641 as another number to contact people by. In June 2016, I received a c all from 800-892-2153 who identified themselves as College Prep. They said they got my number from my child's high school for info on ACT and SAT materials and said I could review materials for 30 days without being charged. However, my credit card was charged within 2 days for a little over $216 from College Advancement Testing. I immediately returned the materials I received unopened and put the charge in dispute with my credit card company. Now I'm looking at my September statement and they charged me $69.95 for services I never purchased. I tried calling 800-892-2153 but had to leave a message to inform them I was putting this charge into dispute with my credit card company. I've also put a block on this company for any future charges they might try to wrongly incur.

- Distressed Parent| 2 repliesI too received the same call. I returned the product with-in 30 days but there were still several charges to my credit card. I left several messages and only received one return call. My last call to them a person did answer and got belligerent. I asked to speak with a manager or their accounting department but he refused and hung up on me.

- Gita Iranipour replies to BigAThe exact same fraud happened to me. The company is called College Advancment Testing from California.
- JuliaThis company got my husband on the phone, and he thought their product was something I had requested, so he purchased it. They charged us for the DVDs ($216.32) and have been billing us monthly ($69.95). When we called about the monthly charge, they claimed it was for access to a scholarship/resource database, which we were never given any information about, of course. They have promised to cancel the current month's charge, cancel any further charges and made a vague promise to back out past charges. (Not holding my breath, but they did give us a cancellation code.) We're disputing all charges with our credit card company. The company name on the materials that came with the DVDs is SAT/ACT College Level Examination, PO Box 9473 Alta Loma, CA 91701. The phone number listed on the materials is 1-800-397-1798, but on my credit card statement it is 1-800-892-2153

- MohammadI had the same experience as everyone else but then I was sent a check for the returned DVD's for $201.37. This check was dated for 11-8-16 but I received it 10-26-17. My bank said that the account associated with the check is closed. I called 1(800)892-2153 and they said they have no record of anything dating back a year (the check or my order information) and then hung up on me, yet every time I call they verify my address so they must have my information. I really hope this doesn't happen to anyone else and that someone puts a stop to them.

- Galina| 1 replyCalled on January 8th 2018 - old lady with nice voice telling me my son requested trial ACT/SAT tests from their website. The lady knew my son's name, our address, his school name and sounded very official. She verified that the conversation is recorded for the training and conversation tracking purposes. Lady promised to send me materials for a deposit, which will be charged only in case we will decide to keep materials and use their services, i.e. if we will not return materials within 30 days from the date we've received it. I've specifically verified the fact that 30 days start tickling only from the date we will get the materials and my card will not be charged for next 30 days or so. Then, I've stupidly provided my card number and ordered that test kit.
On around January 20-25th we've finally got materials. Upon review my son revealed that he was registering himself on the official college board website who handles SAT/ACT tests, but have not requested any materials from anybody. Suspecting a fishy business, we've packed things and send materials back on February 10th with certified service, way within 30 allowed for review days.
I frankly forgot to check my credit card and noticed some suspicious activity only a few months later. To my surprise, my credit card was charged on the day of initial conversation, initial deposit was not refunded, plus this company started to charge my card from March for 69.95 as a recurring charge. I've immediately disputed these monthly charges with my credit card, while for the initial charge dispute was rejected as too old with suggestion to contact service provider.
I've called the 800-892-2153 and person named James after long search of my account by my last name promised to look into things and refund unauthorized monthly fees.
Two weeks later I've got a return package sent June 26th, a few days after my call to this company - it was my certified mail package originally sent back to this company on February 10th. I've called them again, got the same "James" on the phone, who said his management refused to accept package since it was send after 30 days... I've asked to speak with his management and be ready to show me their January log or any record certifying that they send me materials with delivery date prior to January 11th, which would be 30 days prior to February 10th. The guy said somebody will contact me within 2 days. Nobody did, so on the third day same James after a few minutes conversation just hung up on me. I've tried to call again and got voicemail. Same voicemail is on the 1-800-397-1798 phone, no answer. I've just called my credit card and they have accepted the dispute for the original charge and confirmed they are already refunding the 4 monthly fees.
I am taking pictures of this package and filing the Complaint to the Attorney General in my State for this company. Please do the same, if you have got yourself in the same situation with this SCAM company. My biggest question is how this College Prep got my son's personal information and if this SCAM is sponsored by the official SAT/ACT College Board community. I will give them a call warning the info from their website could be leaking out to scammers like this College prep company.- Caller: College Prep 1-800-892-2153
