got three missed calls today from this #,  no message

Multiple calls from 800-892-3990 each day of past week, no messages. Answered once. Caller wanted to know if we "got our yellow pages." Caller would not answer questions; when told this phone call is being recorded caller promply hung up. Phone calls continue with hang-ups.

Is this scammer using an 800 number of a bona fide business located in Florida?

Called twice 7/31/07 AM.  I called the number back and it does belong to DirecTV and this is a number to confirm an appointment.  I pressed the # key 3 times (common with auto-dialers) and got to customer service who politely confirmed that they had my account on file and there were no service requests and no marketing calls opted.  I suspect someone is using DirecTV's number because these calls didn't come from DirecTV, at least in my case.

DirectTV installation was scheduled. (automated message) I have never talked to these people. I answered and told them to put me on the do not call list. I have recieved at least two other calls from them in the past few days.

A partial automated message was left from DirecTV after the second call. It was referring to a scheduled installation appointment.

caller ID says Directv ... uh-huh sure ... wants me to "arrange to pay past due bill".  UP YOURS you criminal dump!  I paid & closed out my entire bill months ago!  Go swallow some rancid acid ice cream topped with cyanide & consider your poor choice of careers; then die ... slowly.
