This Bank of America calls EVERY night...leaves message to call this
number ASAP during their working hours....then gives hours.  When you
call back to tell them NOT to call anymore...you have to enter your
account number - which we have NEVER had - or enter your Social Security
Number!!!!  This has been going on for two weeks. We are and have been
on the DO NOT CALL LIST and also have call blocking...but they get
    through.

I keep getting these calls too, telling me to call 800-892-8349 or 888-290-3438. I'm guessing these are bogus because: (1) its a recording, not a human - at poor quality, I might add, (2) they don't know my name, and (3) the business hours? please. Do NOT ever give ANY full personal information over the telephone unless you absolutely know who you're talking to.

I have received my 3rd call from this number this week.  When I returned the first call, the person asked for my card number.  Since they didn't identify themselves, only that it was "card services" I said I didn't know which card they were referring to.  They asked me for my Social Security number, and I told them I would only give them the last 4 digits.  That wasn't acceptable to them, so they ended the call.  I then called Bank of America using the Customer Service number on the back of my card.  They said a legitimate card company would only ask for the last 4 digits of your SS number or the last 4 digits of their card number, and they would always identify themselves on the automated system.  I was recently the victim of identity theft, and think this is another attempt to get someone's personal information.

I have been receiving calls from this daily to my cell phone at different hours for almost 2 weeks. I did not answer because of no ID, but got mad and decided to put a stop to it yesterday. I called the 1-800 number and got a recording saying this was "card services," and please enter my account number or the last four digits of my SS#. How would I know what my account number is if I didn't know what credit card company it is?? Suspicious, I did not enter anything, and waited. Then the recording said
to enter all nine digits of my SS#. I definitely knew it was a scam, then. I called my cell phone carrier, and they said unfortunately they cannot provide individual caller blocking, yet.

I have an update to this. This call is coming from a collection agency contracted by the Bank of America.
I found out when I called Bank of America (MBNA) to see if it might be them calling because of an overdue loan payment. The customer help representative said that could be the case, since I did have an overdue payment, although they have a separate company take care of collections, so she (MBNA) would not have records of those calls, and didn't know for sure. I told her the collection agency did not identify itself as MBNA, and also requested my full social security number, and that I honestly thought it was an identify-theft attempt. She said she would have had the same reaction in my situation.
She concurred that the collection agency's approach was probably scaring away honest customers who would be glad to correct their payment oversights if they knew it was a legitimate collections call and not an identify-thief. She said she make a note of it, but who knows if anyone above her will listen.

Bull!  It's a scam, plain and simple!  do not answer these calls and do not give any information to them!  No collection agency or credit card company would ever just leave a recording with no identifying information on your voice mail, and they would never, ever, ask for personal id information as they'd already have it!  Do not fall for this!

It's definitely a scam.  I finally was home to have the opportunity to answer the call which comes up as "unknown" on my caller ID.  Normally, I do not get any "unknown" callers and had been getting this unknown caller for about two weeks including weekends.  When I answered the "unknowned" caller today on the 2nd ring, there was no one there.  I held on for about twenty seconds and then heard it click off.  I would bet had my voicemail answered the call, it would have left the usual recording to call "card services" ASAP only to get a machine when you do call back that asks for your account number or full nine-digit social security number.   If this turns out not to be a scam, I'd be very surprised!

I got a call from this number as well.  I started getting them on Saturday when I called my credit card company to tell them that I would be making a large purchase on my card.  So I figured it was just them varifying it.  I called back when I got the "Recorded" message.  They wanted me to put in my social number and the last digits of my credit card number!  First off they didn't even identify what company they were from (hum) and second of all if they are a credit card company the KNOW your number.  They also have you on hold until someone will be avaliable to assit you.  I think this is completely a scam!  Do not enter anything

Called about 2 times a day for 3 days in a row.  Now it is excessive.  They call every 4 hours or so.  The number comes up UNKOWN.  But then tells you to call 800-892-8349 back.  Called and got the "Welcome to Card Services, Please enter your account number or social security number."  Like I am some person just waiting to have identity theft.  Finally waited it out and talked to an operator who will not give you any information until you give her your name.  Didn't give her my name so she got rather rude with me.  Would not tell me what company she worked for.  Putting a complaint into the Att. General.

Update - I talked with bank of America - this number belongs to the Line of Credit for Bank of America.  They are trying to collect on past due loan payments.  So if you are past due , that is the reason for call.  However, I did complain about how unprofessioanl the call center is and that the 4-or 5 phone calls a day was very annoying. I also express my concern  that if this was the image BofA was going for, then I would be changing bank very shortly - I have been with them for over 20 years. I'm sure they will do nothing -

That phone number is a scam artist. You need to report them to the Better Business Bureau and your local Consumer Affairs Office. Whatever you do, do not call that 1-800-892-8349 phone number. They claim to be an affiliate of Bank of America, but they are not and are fraud. It is so important to never call that phone number. If you have, and you gave them your Social Security Number, your personal security is shared with thousands.

calls everyday and weekends gives hours of operation eastern time to call back. If they don't have the balls to identify themselves in a professional way then they can stick it. If this is legit, then they should know better with the way  ID theft is now days. This type of business is not acceptable.

Yeah -- they just called me and left some bizarre card services message. I called back wondering wth. So I did call but I was not about to give any info -- plus I don't know the account number if I have no idea who is calling! So I hit 0 and waited on the line for a person, who only after I asked him what company is this, did I find out it was Bank of America. I told him I'm not giving him info when I don't even know what it's about. He then asked me if this was my home phone # and I agreed and he pulled my info telling me I missed a payment last month. (Which sadly was true.) Jees first time missed a payment and they call you with weird messages.

Elite Recovery Services, Buffalo New York. Called my husband's number stating that they were a lawyer and were taking him to court over a debt of my brother who is in a nursing home with multiple sclerosis and has been there for four years. They stated that my husband was listed as the next of kin. I have never given the nursing home or my brother my home number, which is listed in my husband's name. Neither my husband nor I are responsible any debts incurred by my brother. I did a reverse look up of the number and found out the name of the company.

I actually got this number in an email, asking me to call in response to comments or inquiries I had supposedly made on a BofA card.

I have made no inquiries or comments. In fact, I don't even have a balance!
