I tried googling the number to see if this was a legitimate USPS posting but I came up with this and several similar job ads on other boards across the nation. Here's the website with the number. http://www.postalbatteryexam.com/

I called 1-800-910-9941 a rude unprofessional man asked me a bunch of questions then wanted me to send $108.00 for material to "pass" the test.  Which he said that you are only allowed to take once a year.  He also said that there were jobs in my area (within 30 miles)  HE DID NOT SAY THERE WERE POST OFFICE JOBS.  He said there are jobs in your area.

I went to http://www.usps.com/employment/     and typed in my state and it said there were no job openings.

I am going to to try and report this number to the BBB.

Every one need to be very careful about sending ANYONE money.

I live in Ohio and called this number, they wanted to charge $109.50 + $19.95 S&H for a study packet for the test that you take for the postal service jobs.  Claims that it was refundable but I didn't believe them... for one thing, I don't have that kind of money to spend even if it was legit.  I'm glad I'm not the only one concerned about this number.  What disturbed me was that it was advertised in the local paper, looking very similar to a postal service ad.

This is a scam!!!!!! The USPS does not charge money for postal jobs.  Please report to Federal Trade Commission: 1-877-FTC-HELP (382-4357)
    Consumer alert . . .
You never have to pay for information about job vacancies or employment opportunities with the Postal Service! But scam artists are victimizing people by selling information about federal job opportunities. They
advertise in classified sections of newspapers and offer — for a fee — to help job seekers find and apply for federal jobs. Some even try to confuse consumers with names similar to federal agencies, such as U.S. Agency for Career Advancement or the Postal Employment Service. These scam artists may also lie about the availability of federal job openings. If someone alerts you to a Postal Service job, check with the local Postal Service facility or on the Internet at www.usps.com/employment to determine whether or not a job is available and an exam is required for eligibility. The Postal Service does not charge application fees or guarantee employment. Don’t fall for these rip-offs . . .
It’s deceptive for anyone to guarantee a high score on Postal Service entrance tests. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the U.S. Office of Personnel Management, and the Postal Service urge job seekers to
avoid falling for deceptions like these:
Classified ads or verbal sales pitches that imply an affiliation with the federal government, or guarantee high test-scores or jobs.
Ads that offer information about hidden or unadvertised federal jobs.
Ads that refer to a toll-free number. An operator encourages you to buy a valuable booklet containing job listings, practice test questions, and tips for entrance exams.
Toll-free numbers that direct you to other pay-per-call numbers for more information. Under federal law, any solicitations for pay-per-call numbers must contain full disclosures about cost. Also, the solicitation must make clear if there is an affiliation with the federal government. You must have a chance to hang up before you incur any charges.

YOU should never have to pay to take the postal exam!!!  The previous postings are correct about how evil these people are.  I called the number and do not announce themselves but simply say hello.  DO NOT pay for their corrupt services.  They promise if you get a job with their booklet that you will get your money $108 back.  You do not need to pay to get a job this way.  The correct website is http://www.usps.com/employment/welcome.htm.  I hope this posting helps future people.

So it is a scam. What they do is make you pay for the study materials for the postal exam and tell you that no matter what, the cost will be refunded - for example, if you pass or fail the exam, are hired or not hired. I asked if there were any reasons why you would not get your money back and the service man replied no. Only to correct himself a few moments later to say that if you write anything in the study booklets or have any marks on them, your money wouldn't be refunded. You would have to write out your answers on another piece of paper.

When you call to reach customer service to cancel your order, if you have already given them your credit card information, you need to be persistant. The number is 1-800-914-1197 (which is the same number as the main number they tell you to call on, but won't cancel orders on, if that makes any sense). The first person I talked to hung up on me and pretended like she couldn't hear me, even though I was on a landline and could hear her. I called right back and the next person gave me a cancellation code. We'll see if that means anything. She said the order was already processed and I asked if I'd get a full refund. She said I would.

For the time being, however, I'm going to my bank to let them know to cancel the payment and to get a new debit card, since they still have my information. I don't know what else they might do with that information.

It is pretty apparent that this is an unprofessional company that is committing fraud.

The site that they say to check the validity of information on is non-existant, as well.
