Company called from Markham, Ontario claiming to represent CIGNA, Anthem, BC/BS and other health insurance companies. The caller ID number was 1-289-0303.

They didn't identify the name of their company.  The rep said he needed to verify info for my health insurance carrier. He first verified the number he had just called, which was odd.  When he tried to verify my birthday, I told him I wasn't comfortable giving that information. He tried to reassure me by giving me a tollfree number to call him back, which was 1-800–922–4674. He also gave me his "employee number," EEY002, and said his name was George.

I told him that if they needed information, they could contact me through the mail. I said I might call them back if the number checked out. After I hung up, I learned that the number was actually assigned to Mayfair Communications, and there is no apparent relationship to any health insurers.

Not only am I on the do not call list, but this appears to be a fraudulent attempt to get personal information. Beware.
