This is calling on behalf of Barclay Bank of Delaware. Wanting to offer added benifits to card holders. They give you an opt out prompt if you try to return the call.

Barclay Bank offering benefits for card members, and yes, if you call the number back you can put your phone number on their ‘No Call List’. I will post again if they do not honor their ‘No Call List’

I tried to contact Barclay Bank to be put on their "No Call List". I was told that I would have to give the cardholder's Social Security Number in order to be put on the "No Call List". Why? Any answers?

Just got a call from this 800 number to our office. The LCD display on my phone showed "(800) 931-6318" with no company name, only "Toll Free Number". When I answered, got a hang up. When I called the number back, I heard a recording of a woman's voice stating we had been called by Barclay's Bank in Delaware, formerly Juniper Bank, offering benefits for card holders. The recording then gave another number, 877-523-0478, which supposedly you can call to have your number put on their Do Not Call list. The recording said that the caller would have to have the Social Security number of the card holder available in order to be put on the Do Not Call list.

WARNING-WARNING-WARNING!! THIS IS A CLASSIC IDENTITY THEFT SCAM--SCAMMERS KNOW THAT PEOPLE HATE RECEIVING TELEMARKING CALLS AND WANT TO BE PUT ON DO NOT CALL LISTS. DO NOT EVER GIVE OUT THIS INFORMATION OVER THE PHONE TO ANYONE THAT CALLS, EVER! CONSIDER THIS: IF YOU ARE A BARCLAY BANK CUSTOMER AND ACTUALLY HAVE A CARD WITH THEM, THEY WILL ALREADY HAVE YOUR ACCOUNT INFORMATION ON RECORD, INCLUDING YOUR SOCIAL, AND SHOULD NOT NEED YOU TO GIVE IT.

IF YOU HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS SO-CALLED BANK, THIS MEANS THEY ARE RANDOMLY DIALING NUMBERS TO REACH INDIVIDUALS AND ARE THEN TRYING TO SCAM THIS INFORMATION OUT OF FRUSTRATED CONSUMERS WHO DO NOT WANT TO RECEIVE UNWANTED TELEMARKETING CALLS. GIVING OUT YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER TO AN UNKNOWN COMPUTERIZED VOICE SYSTEM FROM A COMMERCIAL ENTITY YOU'VE NEVER HEARD OF IS THE FASTEST WAY TO GETTING YOUR CREDIT AND FINANCIAL ACCOUNTS RIPPED OFF. GIVE IT OUT AT YOUR OWN RISK.

I sincerely hope you did not give them your Social Security number. If you did, then you need to start checking your credit reports with the Big Three credit bureaus (Equifax, Experian and TransUnion) because it is very likely you just gave your primary financial ID number to an identity theft scam.

I just wanted to restate my earlier hypothesis, with added emphasis.  At this point, I'm virtually certain that this number belongs to some kind of public "anonymizer" service that anyone can use for a small fee.  Some of their clients are crooks, some are merely stalkers, others might be legitimate business enterprises.

The call I received on 7/20/07 was almost certainly from my stalker ex-girlfriend, calling to listen to my voice greeting.

I am a Barclays/Juniper card holder (recently joined). Are they selling our home numbers to outsiders? How does this work? I'm cancelling my card right away.

Received a call from this number.  Annoyed.  Called back this number, recording said from Barclay's Bank Delaware about an offer.  Customer service number on message called, but had to give card #/SS#.  Looked up aforementioned on internet, only cust serv number was one on call back recording.  Eventually called credit card activation number on website and did not give any numbers when prompted until it eventually put me through to a cust rep.  I would not give out any info other than my phone number, which they said had no account to it.  I wanted to know why I was getting called if I was on a do not call list.  He said they would only be calling if I had applied for or had a credit card with them.  He told me if I gave my soc he could check if an account was under that.  I refused to give anything and questioned if they can call me, why was there no other info under that phone number.  He continued to suggest to look up under soc.  I refused.  Left it at telling him I would wait to see if that number called back so I could take it up with them.  I was curious, so I plugged in the original 800 # on google to see if it was from a third party.  I found this site and realized my paranoia was not unfounded.  Not having actually ever bothered to answer 800#s, I am glad for that policy.  New to this, though, and now even paranoid that I gave my home # (of course, they already had it).

I get calls from this 800 number 2 times a day. If this is a scam shouldn't somebody be doing something to catch the crooks who are perpetrating it?

I called the number on the back of my card. The 800 931 6318 is  VALID BARCLAYS BANK NUMBER.  I called the customer service number (back of the credit card) and demanded that I be placed on the do not call list. Also I let them know that they are breaking the law since I am on the Federal DONOT CALL list.

I also demanded a letter of apology, they were rude to my wife. I told them that I would cancel my cards with them if I recieved another call.

Actually it's not illegal if you are their customer. The Do Not Call List has exceptions. One of which is if they have done past business with you, they may call unless you request them not to.

I called this number and all that was requested of me to opt out was the last 4 digits of my SSN.  I feel comfortable with that.

Call mt Office about 2 times a day.  I am a Barlcays (juniper bank) credit card holder.  here's the problem.  I've only had this phone number for 3 weeks since I moved to another office and I have NEVER given my work phone number out to anyone other than family and then don't even have this number yet.

Thet didn't ask for me by name, just said that they were offering a credit card protection program to their customers.

    I ended the call.
