Seems a legitimate Comcast phone number as I received a system-wide notice (via voice mail left) that there was an upcoming change to my area's channel line up.  I believe it to be legitimate because I also received a mailer about this change a few weeks ago.

Most of us are on the no call list. That only stops legitimate companies. These are scammers making phishing calls trying to get personal info from you. The calls may be made at random, generated by computer, or on a list of "good" numbers bought and sold by scammers. The best thing to do is ignore it, and any number you are called from should be looked up on the internet. Legitimate companies have a pass word question that you should recognize. If there is ever any doubt about a caller, ask THEM for verification of identity, and tell they you will call the number you have for them. Never give personal info over the phone.

I have been getting calls daily from this Comcast number, leaving a message saying that my modem is not able to receive the new internet speeds that they recently upgraded everyone in our area to be able to receive.  However, this is in spite of the fact that in August, our internet service crashed one day, and after we went through the repair hotline and did all the little tests you have to do to troubleshoot at their request, only after nothing could be done did they tell us that they were upgrading their services to a new platform and that groups of subscribers were being taken down a few at a time so they could bring in their old equipment and exchange it for new.  "Didn't we get the letter?" they asked.  "What letter--all you did was cut it off suddenly with no notice!"
So I went to the Comcast office locally with the modem and router--the old ones we have been renting from them--and asked them what routers and modems we could buy to replace the old ones with, as I was not going to rent any more equipment from them when I could pay for an excellent one of my own and get the money back in less than a year with the savings  from owning it instead of renting it, and the equipment new can have a 3-5 year warranty.  Comcast staff gave me their list of the ones they have tested and OK'd for use as being fully acceptable for their new system, and I ran off and bought the top of the line ones, and had the Geek Squad install them--no need even to be waiting around for the "next available time slot for  the next month/week//day/technician from Xfinity Comcast to make it out here!.  TheGeek squad came and were done in minutes, and our equipment ever since has been working like a charm--100 Mbytes/second is not bad for home cable internet!  (And my cable bill is now $20.00 less!)
So here where it begins to get murky. Strangely, a letter just came two mnths after the problem was solved (it is October!) from Comcast saying our equipment is outmoded and cannot receive the new internet faster speeds, etc.  This is paired with the daily phone call marketing blitz.  I would think that Comcast should know who has their own equipment and who does not by the time we turn in our old equipment and call in to Comcast to get the new modem and routers put on-line?  So my thinking here is that Josh above just might have a good point--maybe these are fly-by-night Comcast impersonators looking for personal info--and if so, what a way to get themselves into people's houses, as IT techs hooking up a "new" modem! Let the buyer beware!

Comcast calling me to say my modem is outdated and I need to replace it.  I purchased a new modem in August and went through the process of provisioning it with their tech support (after a hold time of 57 minutes).  I called Comcast back to inform them that the modem has been upgraded but I continue to receive 2 - 3 calls per week with the automated message.

I am tempted to go to the upgrade page and have them send a modem just to get the calls to stop...but then I's sure they will start to billing for something...

I have the number on my cell phone it called hem on January 22 and talked to them for 44 minutes.  I would have no reason to call them in the first place.  I know I didn't call them and talk for 44 minutes.

I've received two phone calls from this number saying their is a problem at my residence and they need to verify a time to come fix it. However, Comcast doesn't even use 1800COMCAST, they use the XFinity brand now. I've called Comcast, they have no record of this call or know what it regards. Its a scam, don't talk to them or give them information.

Received a call from this number today.  The man making the phone call couldn't speak understandable English and when I told him I couldn't understand what he was saying, he hung up.  I called the number back and found that it is Comcast. After over 2 minutes of listening to various recorded options, finally got to speak to a real person who had no idea of what was going on.  I suggested that he relay the information to their security department.  I am not a Comcast customer so why they were calling me is unknown.

It's a call from Comcast.  Yes, if you are a Comcast customer, they may call you.  It seems like they would just send an email like they do when they have upgraded your internet speed or to notify you that you can now access your accounts from an I-Phone.

Too bad Comcast hasn't taken the opportunity to really make a difference in the world since they own a large internet cable company. Instead they only sell crap television. Absolute Junk no one in their right minds wants to watch and the United State Government NEEDS TO STOP ALLOWING. We became tried of the repeated bombardment of really bad programming; angry red necks, nudity, animal killings, dumbed downed empty plots, white trash talking plots are degrading the mentality of viewers. So, we are doing what many people are now doing.....cancelling our Comcast Cable. buying a pair of Radio Shack rabbit ears for the television, and using our Android phone to stream line our internet connection using Wi-Fi. for FREE........$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
