This number is a trick number that receives misdials to Xfinity cable company and pose as Customer Service / Customer Solution representatives from Comcast Xfinity.  They offer to lower cable bills and request personal information (service address to ship new equipment, date of birth, SSN to run credit, and a credit card for a 1-time payment).  Once I confronted them about requesting information that the company should already have they switch to being an authorized representative from Direct TV.  Once the person became afraid they confessed this number is a misdial which captures Xfinity customers who accidently dial 6589 as opposed to 6489.

My mother must have miss dialed (6589 instead on 6489) when calling Comcast to cancel her service. The person that answered at this number (1-800- 934-6589) was posing as a Comcast representative. She was told they needed her credit card number because she was required to purchase a protection plan in order to cancel her service. When she confronted them saying it sounded like a scam they became aggressive. They told her she called them so it couldn't be a scam and no matter who she talked to she would be required to purchase the protection plan. When we called to figure out what was going on they quickly became defensive and aggressive stating that she called them, so it couldn't be a scam. Eventually, they hung up on us :).

That happened to me too. I wonder what they do with the social security and the other information the get. Hope they don’t still identity.

My letter received a letter from Xfinity which confirmed recent changes to her account. It directed her to call 800-934-6589 if she didn't make any changes. I called the number and the "customer service" rep was unable to tell me what changes were made to my mother's account and attempted to sell me a protection plan for her television stating it would save me $150 in annual Xfinity charges.  I hung up and looked up the real Xfinity customer service number which is 800-934-6489.

Did exactly that tonight, Jan 6, 2023.  Called bc a $30 up charge appeared on Xfinity.  They did not miss a step telling me it was probably for in and out home wiring and I could pay $ 90 for the whole year instead.  Kept telling them no thanks I don’t pay for that now. Asked if they were Xfinity and she was honest and said no, I must’ve misdialed.a lot of call like that come into her.  She did get my name and home # up front though (drat!). I was sure it was Xfinity bc I hat to wait 25 min and listen to ads before the call picked up 😂😂😂😂😂😂

This is still going strong.  I eventually realized I misdialed the comcast number after the guy wouldn't answer the question "do you work for xfinity?" He also asked for my address which I refused to give due to his persistent attempts to sell me a service plan.  I wasn't going to buy anything, so I kept saying no, and even asked if I was talking to a real person because he would just launch into the sales pitch regardless of what I was saying.

This is now a directtv att scammers. Not xfinity scammers anymore
