- Kiera| 2 repliesThis number pops up as a "solution" for malicious software Win32/Capshaw which I have been unable to remove using reputable tools like Microsoft Malware remover tool.In desperation I did try calling it and received very disturbing computer signals. Terrified, I hung up. These are VERY bad people!! Is there a central body to which one may report cybercrime? If not, why not.

- Mike in Seattle| 1 replyThis number was provided as the Comcast/Xfinity head office billing department. I was instructed to buy an eBay gift card and "lock" in 1 year of Comcast savings at 50% off. The mix of companies from the caller triggered my BS filter. The bad thing is the caller already knew how much I pay for my monthly Comcast bill. Maybe he guessed. Be careful out there.
- Caller: An affiliate of Comcast supposedly

Only scammers ask you to get a gift card and most certainly he guessed about your monthly bill, since it is probably a standard amount most people pay.Quote:I was instructed to buy an eBay gift card ...... - JR| 2 repliesCalled saying they were Xfinity and have a great deal to cut your costs for your cable bill 50%. Deal with Target. Wanted me to go get a gift card for 4 months up front new fee for cable bill which would total $700 and then call the 800-935-0716 number and give them some BS Promotion Code and then give them the gift card# to pay the bill up front and then my bill would be 50% for the same service for 3 years. I didn't trust it and they some how even put a $50 credit into my account to assure me and text me and email me from my account the $50. payment to insure they were legit. I still didn't trust it - so I called the 800 number first to see who answered and they answer Xfinity but it was the same guy I was talking to and it was supposed to be the billing department. These guys are good cause I even asked for their Manager and a new guy Adam got on and went through a whole deal giving me the $50 credit in my account. Said if I paid with the Target gift card before 8:00 p.m. then I would get an additional $200 Visa gift card sent to me.

- jw replies to phSame just happened to me and I searched this number online. Seemed very suspicious once James extension 747 told me to go purchase Target gift cards for a total of $1,110.
- Jack| 1 replyTold me about a Target promotion to get 50% off my bill. I had to get a Target gift card for $540.00 and call 800-935-0716 x 1 by 8:00 tonight as the offer would expire at that time. If I did it within 1 hour of him creating my authorization code, I would receive a $100.00 Visa gift card. I asked a Target service rep, and they didn't know anything about it. SCAM!

- Tygerkat replies to JackYou actually had to ask a Target rep to find out this is a scam?! The fact your caller wanted you to pay $540 to receive a discount didn't clue you in?
- ARMINEThey claim that they are partnering with target and if i pay with target card i can get 30$ promotion, have to buy 300$ target gift card and give them the number of gift card

- Richard| 2 repliesThis number keeps calling me about an Xfinity promotion using Target Gift Cards. It started off sounding Legit, including Comcast hold announcements before I was connected with "John" my Comcast Account Specialist. He had access to my accounts, knew the monthly amounts for both properties and even paid off next months bill on the cheaper of the 2. It all sounded great with prepayment of 1 year at 50 % of current billing ( not quite ) and then locked in rate for 2 more years at said rate, paid monthly. When I told him to just use the card on file thats when it got ridiculous and he said the only way this would work is if I went to Target or a CVS to get 3 Target Gift Cards in the denomination of $480 to pay for both annual bills ( $1,440 ) at the discounted rate. When I asked if I could just pay with the CC on file, he went into this spiel about how Target is promoting their gift cards blah blah blah. I hung up on him and called Comcast Fraud Department which so far has done nothing.
Now "john" has called me several times about how the promotion is ending today at 5 and I need to go to Target and get those gift cards and call the 888 number etc etc.
My biggest concern is how these people have access to my account information, were able to pay my next months bill ( I am sure the payment will bounce ) as well as charge my card on file $20 for the "activation fee" which is probably just going to cover the fee for bouncing my payment.
Beware of anyone requesting payment with Gift Cards, I have never heard of anything so ridiculous in my life.- Caller: "Comcast"
- Call type: Scam suspicion
- Tygerkat replies to Richard| 1 replyIf they charged your card, you need to report the fraudulent transaction & have the card cancelled.
- Richard replies to TygerkatAlready did, but the $20 went to Comcast, and is reflected on my account as a credit. Still dont know how they have access to the back end Comcast account info.
Now they have called 8-10 times threatening to "suspend" my Comcast Accounts and charge my card on file the $1440. Its getting ridiculous. AmEx is aware and has "frozen" my account waiting to see what happens. - DrizzleReceived a message stating I was eligible for a 50% discount on my bill. Had my verify my address and everything, which I did because I thought it was legit until the "customer service representative" said something about they're doing a promotion with Target about a prepaid card. Started rambling about it and I was like this is BS so I just hung up.
