I received a robot call from 800 945-1418 saying my SS benefits & SS number were being cancelled, but didn't say why. Could you confirm if the above telephone number is a SS number? Currently I don't receive benefits, I'm not 65 yet, but will be next year. I also received in the mail a form that asked for details about rights in medicare, e.g. name, phone, email & address with a due date that I didn't send back. The return didn't have SS, just an address: P.O. Box 2910, Kennesaw, GA 30156-9843. Is this a fraud? Your reply will be greatly appreciated. Thx.

This is a scam. Your SS # can't be cancelled or suspended or anything else these crooks claim. As for the letter, contact Medicare at a known phone number, such as the one on their official site, and ask them about it.

Social Security Administration scam calls are more about scaring people into believing their SSN is going to be suspended if they don't comply with the scammers demands, all lies of course.
As for the mailing, the address you posted is merely the Postal Service address, not the box#, where a business/individual would receive its mail. A quick search revealed numerous reports of similar mailings with the same return address. You can toss it in the trash or submit a complaint to the Postal Inspectors if it is a fraudulent mailing.

Scammers don't have a clue how the real SSA works and they are hoping you don't either.
The SSA  doesn't suspend your ssn, file law suits, freeze accounts related to your SSN or issue Arrest Warrants.


The current scheme is they say your SSN is involved with a rental car found in southern Texas, with blood & drugs. Next theres some address they say was raided and discovered several bank accounts used for laundering money under your SSN, so they have to freeze your bank accounts and issue you a new SSN, but you have to secure your accounts by getting some gift cards.

Another variation is "your SSN is misused in Colorado" for money laundering, drugs, etc ......pretty bizare "off-the-wall" stories, its so hard not to laugh at them.

• Only a scammer would leave a message telling you "someone" is using your SSN for criminal activities, then try to say your in trouble for something you didn't do!
• Only a scammer would say "legal enforcement actions".
• Only a scammer is going to call you and demand you pay them over the phone to avoid an Arrest Warrant that doesn't really exist. You would first have to go to Court and disobey a Court Order to get an Arrest Warrant issued. If an Arrest Warrant was issued,  a Sheriff would suddenly show up at your door to serve it, they don't warn you they are coming and they don't put it on hold until you decide what to do.
• Your SSN can't be canceled, revoked or suspended because it is a number assigned to your birth name for Identification purposes, only scammers say it can. It IS your Identity as much as your name is.
• New SSN must be applied for with a misuse report on the old one and its FREE.
• Only scammers ask you to pay using Gift Cards. They are not designed to be a method of payment.
