They have called and left a message saying that there was unauthorized charge on my MasterCard and it was denied until I call them back for authorization of the charge. I called them back and they couldn't give me my account number and asked questions "What State am I in", "What was my account number, where do I work. I hung up and called the 800 number on the back of my MasterCard and they said there was no call made to me and no charges pending or denied.

This is in face MasterCard.  After calling 1-800-945-3114 I suspected the same thing so I googled the number and found this post.  I then dialed the MasterCard number found on the back of the card and they verified that 1-800-945-3114 is in fact their fraud department.

The number is legit -- for the Citi fraud department.  I also refused to give them my card number, etc., but they were able to find my account by name, and the rest of the call was ... what you would expect.  I called number on the back of the card, they confirmed everything was legit, and transferred me to the fraud dept just for good measure -- the person I spoke to there confirmed everything again, and even said that the guy I talked to the first time sits right next to her.  Yes, they need to do ~something~ about the phishy nature of the contact.

So the bad guys figured out they should post on these websites... Users Safe and Letsbeclear are not to be trusted. How can this number be legit for Mastercard when they have it listed on their website as a fraudulent number?
Dont call it back, dont give them any info and report the call to your bank.

User "Dont Do it" is spreading nonsense. This is a legitimate Fraud Early Warning number for Citibank, as documented on their Web site:
