800-945-5000

This number is a scam - says they are from American express and I should call back and they will assist me.  I do not have American Express, so I am sure they are trying to sell me something or whatever.

I received a call from 801-945-5000 saying they were with American Express verifying an application for a credit card. I told them I had not. In fact I got that call twice. Both from two men who's first language was clearly not English. After looking up that number I found information that it is a legitimate number for a branch of American Express in Utah. After the second call, the man on the line gave me three numbers to report identity theft. After reading Margaret Sleasman's post, I feel very confident this is a scam to obtain someone's personal information.

This is AMEX verifying if you have applied for AMEX...when I called I was given clear information/and or instructions after verifying.  Glad AMEX does this!
