This number lists itself as AOL Support, Geek Squad Support, Dell Support but when you look at the .com, it is none of those.  AOL said it WAS NOT THEM.  They collected a check for technical support from an elderly person unaware they were not AOL!  They frightened the individual by saying their email was hacked and other AOL users were going to get spam because of the hack....they then asked that the individual call them back in 30 minutes.

CAlled this number for former Verizon customer support. Sounded like call was being forwarded. Person with heavy accent answered. Advised was locked out of my account which had verizon email listed as alternate. Said there would be charge for support. Asked if this was AOL support form Verizon customer. Called me an idiot so I hung up.

computer hacked

I googled AOL support # as I was not receiving emails on only one of my 3 devices. I called them. They identified themselves as AOL support and asked email address.  They said indeed my email had been hacked.  Asked why I could still receive emails on other devices.  No good response.  They would need about 45 minutes to work on issue and told me to call back.  They called me back.  Had me change email password on all 3 devices and said I was protected from hackers now...then came the request to send check for $500 for life time coverage.  Said I was not paying that.  Then $300.00.  Insisted I write check and mail to address given or they would disable my account permanently.  I asked if it was now safe to change my password, and they said no, leave to what they had given me.   Unfortunately, this was last night & I did not get to call my IT department at work for advise until this morning, who googled the phone # and came to this site.  We reset my password on AOL on my phone, so now they cannot get into any devices.  I feel foolish and deceived.  Pray nothing bad happened overnight   SCAM SCAM SCAM  HACKERS!
