Recorded message from Kentucky Utilities calling about "upcoming activities" for my account.  They called my work phone number, so it's a mistake or a scam.

Kentucky Utilities.  I didn't answer because I didn't recognize the number.  However, I appreciate the legitimate callers leaving a message on my answering machine.  That's what they did, just letting me know that they will be trimming trees in my neighborhood soon.

The number belongs to KU (Kentucky Utilities) and LG&E (Louisville Gas & Electric). It is used when you have reported an outage and they will call back after it was fixed to see if everything is OK and anything else that they are needed. Good follow up on service rendered.

This is a scam number. I got a phone call from this number, they said my account for some reason was canceled, then said the company was sending me a bill for $800.00 and because all of  that, my service will be cut. After that frighten news, they came with an easy and fast solution: " If you want your power back we could go right now to your home, have on hand $250.00 CASH, no checks and we will fix the problem"

Received a recorded message from them.......it's about receiving a brochure about work coming up in our neighborhood........I also went to their website and verified that the number does indeed belong to them.

This number called my business that is not associated with my phone number on the utility account to tell me my bill was unpaid and would be shut off on a Saturday afternoon if we didn't pay 500 cash or a prepaid card with the technician came to shut off the service. The electric company is closed today so we can't get through to see if it's legit.

That should tell you that it is not legit. Have you never heard of the utility scam? I should think that they have a 24/7 line open to report outages and emergencies as well.

The demand for instant payment and the fact they called a number not associated with your account are clear indications this is a scam. Do not pay them.

This is a scam, you hear a pre recorded message asking you to call the 800 number they provide.  They say they have a truck in route to shut off the electric, so you pay immediately. KU says this is a known scam. They called my business.

1-800-981-0600 called my work number on 01/11/2020 at 11:00 am today. There was a recording saying that my account was past due and that my electric would be shut off in 30 minutes due to non payment. I hung up so I don’t know if there was anything else said or not. And of course the electric company is closed on a Saturday. My account wasnt due till 01/22/2020 according to the bill that came in the mail. I called the number that I always use to pay my bill by and paid it just in case. But I’m pretty sure it was a scam call. Cause they are supposed to have my cell number on my account not my work line.

Of course it was a scam call. If your account was so far behind that your electricity was going to be shut off, you would have received numerous notices in the mail.

Answered  but no one said  anything .

Received a call this morning at 11AM. It’s the number to my power company, Kentucky Utilities.

Calling the number back I was made aware that there is a scam going around where scammers are using the actual company number to mask their number and claiming individuals have a late bill and have to pay it in the next thirty minutes or their power will be disconnected.

Received a robo message talking about downloading an app or something and to call the number back, but only got the last part of message.. either way the caller id said unknown but when i click on it, the 800# was listed.  KU and local news in 2018 reported scams being made with this 800# spoofed as call id which got a few for 800$ apparently.  Not sure though as the vm listed the same 800 # as callback #..

This was KU calling to inform me of upcoming work on utility poles in my area. It was an automated message. It is a legitimate number, but they have had issues with scammers being able to mimic their number and try to get money from people.
