Received call today and when I answered the phone, it got disconnected.

its a scamm number

I had someone call me saying my computer was contacting Dell with problems and that it was Dell calling me.  I asked for a number in case we were disconnected and the number they gave was 800-999-3355.  John, you gave a premature response.

800-999-3355 DOES appear to be DELL customer service BUT IF YOU GET AN INCOMING CALL SHOWING THAT NUMBER, BEWARE THIS IS A SCAM: it's used by a fraudulent firm that's called me a number of times phishing a legit phone number but the heavy-accented Indian bro tries to trick you by gaining access to your computer to "help delete malware."  Don't fall for it.

It's a scam, they are spoofing the caller ID to show up as a legitimate number. I strung them along for a while one call and pretended to play along, it's a lot more fun to mess with these guys than it is to

This is dell. It is also harassment. If you get a call from this number report it to the Better Business Bureau as i am.

Keeps calling and wants to fix my computer.  If I yell, they hang up but call again.  Yes, heavy India accent.  Don't know how to stop it.  I think Dell has them checking problems but they are agressive

8009993355 is a scam, they used spoof to think that's the number they are calling from, they'll get inside your computer get all your passwords and steal all your money. These low life scum have no soul.

This is a scam, they are phishing Dell's number.  See the written response from Dell in regards to a complaint.

I got 4 calls in 4 hours from the number above.  I never answered but got fed up and called it from another phone and it appeared to be dell.  There was another number a few weeks ago that said Dell on my ID but it was a very pushy man with a thick accent. He said he was from Dell Support and did I know that my Security monitor on my computer had stopped working.  He began to badger me for info of service tag number etc. I said I was going into my doctor and wasnt home and he insisted on giving me a number to call him back.

If Dell cares about their customers why don't they don't they put some resources into stopping these scumbags? They got the Dell customer information directly from Dell.

Robocaller

At 8:15am 4/22/19, I got a call from 800-999-3355 with caller ID of "Dell Computer" saying my computer reported problems. They asked if I installed anything recently. It was clearly fake because they didn't know anything about our machines and Dell has a complete history of our hardware and upgrades, etc.

They did the same start - look at the keyboard, find the Windows key, press it and R and hold it down. What do you see. Same beginning script as the usual 'your computer has a virus' only this time they wanted me to bring up the system configuration dialog and have me try starting  the application identity and application layer gateway services. FYI - that lets third party vendors get past your firewall into your machine. I said thanks for helping but I'm not interested at this time. The guy made a rude noise and hung up. Definitely a SCAM.

james from dell ( fake i'm sure) called claimed my computer is sending reports to there server ( for what purpose would it ever do that?) and that 2 people ( gave fake names) were alledgedly trying to access my computer

SCAM from Packistan.  If you answer ONE time, you will get calls nearly every day.  BLOCK THIS NUMBER IMMEDIATELY!
