Most likely the infamous “govern yourself accordingly”   Scam group.

Usually starts off by saying there are 2 “complaints” against you.   Gives you a spiel meant to frighten you into paying them something and then sometimes ends with the stupid phrase “govern yourself accordingly.”  Accuses you of financial crimes .  Sometimes includes threats of arrest. Sometimes they use the phrase  “handle yourself accordingly.”  Sometimes they say they have “warrants”.  Which is  a load of nonsense.

I received a call out of no where from a guy by the name of Alex which is probably not his real name stating I needed to contact his office by today or have my attorney contact their office so I call the number back and a lady answers stating I had criminal charges against me for fraud regarding a payday loan which I have never taken out that the name of the company was Advance America. I told her I have never heard of such company to mail me any paperwork pertaining to this matter that I would have my attorney contact them. After reading all the previous posts I agree its a total scam. If I had any sort of criminal charges I'm sure I would know about them and receive something from the court system not so random phone call from a guy name Alex..lol

Clearly a scam. They said I have a case pending and need mediation.

They called me and said that I owe $700 from an old check cashing debt from many years ago. They were very stern about it and even called my roommate. They said that there was a criminal case out on me and that I need to get a lawyer involve that I would go to jail or I can pay the minimum payments of $200 to get it taken care of. Spam for sure!!! They wouldn't stop calling me. They were persistent. It pisses me off. Any 801 call I have blocked on my phone.

Report them:

Also contact your local attorney general

If they continue to bother you,  and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is  a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion.  Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the  file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved.   Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.

You'll probably have to yell at them and talk over them.  Tell 'em  no scammy debt collector is going to push you around.

You have to get tuff with these people because,  being akin to thugs, brute force is (metaphorically speaking).   the only thing they understand.

Also consider investing in a call blocker and NOT picking up on numbers you do not recognize.

This number calls me and never has anything to say. I also don't owe anyone money so it is alarming that he has my number. His message also never says my name or who he is representing. He just tries to sound intimidating. This crap definitely needs to stop.
