We seen an add on Craigslist for a 2000 Toyota 4-Runner with only 87,000 miles and great pictures. We thought this was a great deal and began to email a guy named Darren.  Darren Marshall tells us to that we can work the payment for this vehical through Ebay Protection Plan, we thought this would be a great idea, but then once we received an email from them they asked for the payment through money gram, Ebay Protection does not work through money gram!  So we started to investigate and could not find the phone number he gave us on any directory so we typed in the phone # into the search bar and up popped this web-site (forum).  I was so happy to see this site, if it was not for this site we propbably would have been scammed.  To top it off he sent us a VIN # (jt3hn86r0y0266451), this is a real VIN #, very smart.  If we could recommend anything it would be to ALWAYS DO A EXTENSIVE RESEARCH regardless of how of good the deal is or how sure you are about the deal.
Thank you for posting this site,

Hi,i see from your email that you are interested in the condition of the car
so you have to know that the car is 100% working and looking very good,no flaws or dents,
no scratches or any kind of damage,no flood or wrecked and it has a US clear title, the interior
looks great,is brand new condition because I have took care of it like it was my baby(the car  is
located in Ephraim, Utah ready to be shipped). This is a regretful sale but unfortunately i
need money for my son , he is in hospital and i really need money for him. This is why i am
selling the car so cheap.BUY IT NOW for $ 4,000 because i want to close a quick and smooth
deal with a serious person.About the shipping i can tell you that will be done through TnT express
and it will take no more than 3 days. The car will be insured at the shipping company for the transport
and the shipping cost is free because my brother work's at the shipping company and he has 1
transportation per year for free.If you are still interested please reply me asap.
    Thanks

They are at it again on Craigslist and operating out of Salt Lake City Utah. It is currently on a 2002 Lincoln Navigator.

I have to admit. I was genuine impressed with your tactics on this one. Playing or preying on the heart strings with a hospitalized son and the family connection in the transport business~ very nice!!!

We were scammed out a lot of money with this phone number too.  After talking to the FBI, they said to file a complaint on IC3.gov and file a formal complaint.  THey most likely won't be able to do anything for you personally, but if they find enough people who have been scammed from the phone number 801-386-9706 they will start to look into it.

The lady that scammed us was named "Ashley Biruinta" and had a sob story for why she was selling her car - process of a divorce, 2 kids, and about to loose the house.  Her email address was ashlbiruinta@gmail.com

The fax number was also a hoax - 408-402-8441 which is where the money went.

Just starting seeing this number show up on my phone. No message is left. I haven't called requesting information on a car but just had a claim on my car and wonder if whoever is calling me is somehow monitoring auto insurance claims. Have had at least 5 calls this morning and its barely noon.
