    Scam.

Ignore and block these calls. If you were the subject of a pending civil lawsuit, you'd have received a letter from the specific attorney for the other party.  You'd have a paper trail.

Then, if a case was filed, you'd have received a summons delivered to you by someone licensed to serve process in your locality.  You would NOT have first heard about any civil law case from some scammery-scummery debt collector who cold calls you and starts demanding money.

You can check this out yourself by simply going down to the local main civil court and checking the defendants civil list.  The court clerks are usually glad to help and are familiar with these kinds of scams.

Someone from a company called Asperg Credit or something like that at the number (801)396-7799 called my sons house and leaving threatening messages with a case number, they have never tried to call me directly.  So I call the number back and give the case number to the person that answered and "Mr. Turner" proceeds to tell me that I took out a loan of $600 and I now owe $3000 but they do see that I'm on disability so they cannot go to my employer but by federal law they can collect this money how they see fit including taking my SSDI, I told him 1), I don't have that kind of money and 2), good luck garnishing my federal money because that will never happen and then he huffs and hangs up on me.  I called back and a "Mr. Frank" reconnects me to "Mr. Turner" and he says I can pay in installments. I tell him I'm confused because I've never taken any loans out except a student loan in the last 8 years.  He then gives me an address that I haven't lived at in 10 years then says "oh and the loan was taken out in 2011" I laughed and said there is no way that this is my account and if he thinks he's getting any money from me he is sorely mistaken.  He said "okay we will have you served and we will see you in court." He the hung up on me again.
I called my son to let him know to ignore all of these calls and then we laughed about this whole "serving papers and see you in court" they don't have a current address or phone number.  I'm going to go to my local court house and talk to them because as we all are well aware of these days, scammers come out in droves during tax season.  I looked up this number and its in Utah and when I tried to call a third time it now rings twice and then goes to an answering machine. I hope this stops soon.

No one can garnish or take Social Security unless it is for taxes, student loans, or certain court ordered payments such as child support.

First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

I received another call from this number on 4/10/2018 saying they needed to verify my current address and place of employment.  Still not giving me a company name.  Saying this is their third attempt.  They have called every day since April 4th.

Told him I have never had a personal loan and click hung up on me. Blocked this number. Sounds like a big fat scam to me.

This particular number left a message on my husband’s cell phone, saying that I owe money.  They will come to my house or my job.  They will come and arrest me. I should call the number and put in a reference number that was left.  I don’t know this number at all.  They didn’t call my number

I got the same call on April 11.  The guy gave me the same spill about legal action and he had all my personal information including my social.  I got him real good. I told him that I checked my credit report and the company that he claimed I owed money didn't show on the report.  I told him if he had documents to prove the claim that he had my email address email them to me.  If not then don't call again.  They have called back with a private number this time twice. I answer it and let music play in the back ground.
