My phone also noted that this message came from an "UnverifiedSender"

Same thing. Dont have an account there, text originated from # 9175655914 telling me to call back to 801-416-0641

Scammers trying to separate you from uour money.

Same thing here. Unverified Sender. Identical text about 5 minutes ago 5.12.12

I just received a text message from this number 917-511-9451 (S).U.(N).(T).R.U.S.(T).  to call them back at 801-416-064!  Do they think we are all easy marks?

Got the same with different 917 number

Just got this text also. I do not have a suntrust account. I called the number off of my home phone and it said my debit card has been locked and press 1 to unlock it. Hung up after that.

First tip....a legitimate bank will have a WATS # starting with 800, 888, 877, etc.

I have an account, but these scammers don't know that.  The 917 # is out of Brooklyn. If you call yhe 801 #, they'll act like you need to verify your account, or CC, to stop fraud. Then they use the info YOU give them to empty your account or run up charges.  Spread the word & delete the TM.

If you have a question about your account, call a # on your statement or one you look up on the company's website.

to check it i called from a business landline phone the number tells you the suntrust debit card has been locked then asks you to input your card number to reactivate.. It is a Phishing scam trying to rip off Debit cards. I Knew it had nothing to do with me as i do not use a "bank" i am with a credit union.l SO BEWARE

10:34 am and again at 11:25 am Eastern.  Wife too.  We are w Verizon.  Anyone know how to block this?

Also received same call from S.U.N.T.R.U.S.T telling me to call 8014160641... call originated from #9179694645 when i tried to call that # it says "Caller is not receiving any calls at this time"..

received this scam spam at 11:30 this morning. I have no business relationship with SunTrust  and certainly not with (S)U(N).(T)RUS(T). Message also gave a New York number - 917.192.7778. Why can't these be tracked and STOPPED?

I too have an account there, and i agree. If you have any questions about an account you should call the # on the bank statement. my bank has NEVER called me or texted me for any reason.. always thru US mail..

Got this message last month and reported it to Verizon and they credited me back for the spam text and blocked the number. Got another message from May1 (917-717-4314, reply to 213-799-0779), so reported it this time to Suntrust, since I bank with them. Lady at Suntrust told me she had had numerous calls that day about the same number (or variation) and that the FBI was on it. Now, this morning, I got 2 MORE texts from these guys, from unverified 917-881-1179 at 10:29 am and a second text from 917-856-2821 at 11:24 am. Both texts said to call back 801-416-0641 (yeah, right).  I will now be reporting these latest two to both Suntrust and Verizon. Keep in mind that Verizon can block these numbers, but the scammers only come up with a different number the next time. I don't understand why these people can continue to operate this scam and nothing is being done to put them out of business!!

I got two of these calls from different 917 numbers. I searched google on them.

A site said they were a cell phone number in India

I actually got a message from 917-929-5463 asking me to call this number.  S.U.N.T.R.U.S.T.
Apparently it's happening with Verizon customers - what is going on VERIZON?????

I just got the same message as stated above. I will also report to Verizon. Glad all of you reported this on here. It may have saved me some $. .
