I received a call from 801-965-1141 and she told me to look on the BBB website and see her name in the Staff Directory which I did. I gave her my credit card number to include me in the BBB and I could not find the number she was calling me on the website. So, I called the BBB and the staff directory to go to her name and it was invalid. I tried several times to insure accuracy still her name is invalid. So I pressed 0 on the BBB to talk with someone and there office was closed due to the holiday today. I immediately called my bank and canceled my credit card. I also reported her to the BBB file a complaint.
Good luck everyone and remember it is good to be cautious!

I received a phone call from (801) 965-1141 (UT, USA) at about 9:30am. A clear female voice in English, stumbling over her words occasionally, says she is calling from the Better Business Bureau wanting to speak with the owner of the company. I ask which company, and she gives me the name of my company (I have a local, very small less-than-20-client Sole Proprietorship private practice). I say Yes This is (my name). She says that the BBB is an organization that consumers contact to reference businesses when they want to see if they're reliable or not, and due to the good record I have on my business she is calling to offer accreditation, since accreditation is by invitation only. She asks how long I have been in business, and I say about a year; she asks when exactly, and I tell her I would have to check but I believe it will be exactly a year in a couple weeks' time. She says she'll make a note of that and contact me again later because they require companies to have been in business for 12 full months. I ask if she can give me more information before she hangs up, and she hesitantly says yes. I ask what more I can expect to have required, and she says there will be accreditation fees, as well as more review of my business and they'll check if I own other businesses how they are run as well. I ask if I have positive reviews through BBB, and she repeats her introductory speech about how she's contacting me due to my acceptable record for business practices. I say Alright, thank you, and we hang up.  I google-search the number and all I see are 'Identify this number' websites, no BBB website link. I call the number back, and the vm recording says Lorena Foster at the Better Business Bureau. I have reported it to the BBB.

I also got a call from 801-965-1141 from someone who said that she was Lorina Foster from the Better Business Bureau. She said she was calling for the owner of a company and to return her call. She said she would be there until around 4PM. Definately suspicious. I would advise people to give this person no information whatsoever and not to call the number back and to report it to the FTC or BBB if they are called.

I called the Utah BBB, and was able to confirm that she does work for the BBB.   I was told that she works in the Business Relations department, which looks to have companies become a Certified BBB company.   I am assuming that they must be selling this.   But even so, I was able to confirm that she does work for the Utah BBB.

Below is the information I pulled up in Google, which I used to verify her status with the BBB.

I just missed a call from this number at 4:29pm and she left a message. I called her back after mowing and she didn't answer but  her voicemail was very generac and she said she would be in her office until 4:00pm. She is either fake or very dedicated for calling me 29 minutes past office hours on a friday.

Thank you for your comments. I just got home and had a call I listened to the message calling about my business. I didn't feel comfortable calling back and I won't. Too many scams. Whether she is or not I don't recommend giving your credit card or personal info to anyone that calls you.

Same here. Wants to speak to the owner of the company and to call her back.
I mean, if she already has the number and knows it is the phone number of a company or a single person doing business, then she would know the companies or that persons name, right? So why so informal "owner of the company"?

    Not calling back.

I also got a vm from: 801-965-1141. I called the BBB at (801) 892-6009. They said she actually is a sales rep who works from home. She sells accreditation. I told them not to contact me about a sales pitch again and they said they would make such a note.
