When you look at the Google maps or Zillow.com  there is absolutley nothing there.  No address, no buildings.

Gave the name of Larry Gates with a Newark, NJ address. 2 card #'s
large order that they wanted to pick up, then supposedly wife was in labor. Asked us to contact and use a shipping company that didnt exist, but we played along to get as much info to pass along to investigators. They gave this phone number, also, another # on the caller id was 678-993-2035.  Our story is the same as the others here. When I confronted him finally on the phone and told him that I had contacted the FBI, he was furious and cussed me out before I hung up.  We thought it was suspicious and did not begin any order but be wary of them.

I asked for his company name and phone # and he gave: 300 irsh Potato rd Concord NC 28025 and 229-233-4533.  After googling the # I found this site and the same email he'd sent to other co's.  SO glad I researched and didn't waste any time on this scam!!

Isn't the internet great?  This is the second scam halted this week.  We also got several calls and emails from Larry Gates.  Our first contact was from an AT&T operator who had a "relay" call.  She told me that our caller was probably hearing impaired.  She read his typed note, then typed our spoken message back to him.  This brought about series of emails.  The last of which I have included.  A deaf man needing 1500 candles for his church couldn't be trying to pull one over on me, could he???


Here is our last email...

 Thanks for your respond and once again i do appreciate your business.I need 1,500pcs of this candles and i will like you to email me back with the total cost for pick up only without shipping.Please advice with the full cost so that i can go ahead and provide you with my credit card for the full payment.Wish you all the best in business and hope to hear back from you soon.

I gave him the quote, he called me from unknown phone number and when I ask him his contact information, he would give me his address in Ghana, Africa with no phone numbers. He wanted to pay with his credit cards.
SCAM Scam Scam

This scam is in the form of an email. I've heard about scams where they want to order certain sizes in bulk and pick up. This is where the red flags went up. I "toy" around with him and ask several questions (where are you located? Can you call the office and we'll discuss this", etc.)I also informed him that shutters aren't made in 6" and he then changed his mind and said 16". HA!
These "buyers" steal credit cards and use them for the freight part of the order, where THEY are the shippers. BEWARE!!

here's another Larry Gates - through an telephone relay operator.  gave him my email & he sent me an email requesting prices for trophies.  I was already suspicious because the 2nd question he asked (through the operator) was "what type of payment do you accept?"  I answered that the payment would be discussed when the order was placed, not before 7 he didn't like that.

As soon as I received the email, I also got a phone call from Mr. Gates himself (somehow he didn't need the relay operator anymore)...his email was full of mis-spellings & very little detail.  But when i questioned him as to what quantity he needed, he wouldn't answer.  he also stumbled whan asked what church he came from.  The email address he provided me is "cashmere_62@yahoo.com"  He wasn't happy that I wouldn't talk to him, I told him that the owner would get back to him if she wanted to quote the order!

Luckily I googled the email address.  It struck me funny that a preacher has an email address of cashmere.  We asked him to call the shop since it was such a big purchase and he did within two minutes.  Doesn't speak a word of English and said he was in GA.  Don't waste your time with scum.  It is bad enough that they are wasting our time, but stating that they are from a church just shows there is all kinds out there.
