I get constant unwanted calls from this number in the mid afternoon and when I pressed "1" to speak with a representative, I asked to be taken off the list and got hung up on immediately.

As with all types of robo calls - and they are ALL computer dialed - the key is not to pick up the phone. Don't know how it works, but one of the things the computer does after it dials your number is record a tone or something which validates the number dialed is an "active" working phone number - and it captures your phone and adds it to a database.

The telemarketers then take those validated numbers in the database, and they sell it to other telemarketers who will now do the same thing to you.

Answer machines help to a degree, and after a while they will stop calling.  But it still adds your number to the working database.

I bought a phone which features call blocking - and from the records I have tracking from, the calls from one number eventually stop - more so when they have been blocked.  I have noted the "caller" end terminates quicker when they call block takes affects.  Not sure what it does - whether there is a message telling the caller the number is blocked or simply disconnects the call - but it is working.

Bottom line:  If you have caller ID - and you DON'T RECOGNIZE the number/caller (do you really know someone named "OUT OF AREA" or UNAVAILABLE"?) - DON'T ANSWER THE CALL!

Did not answer call, but when I tried to call back, message said, "Voicebox for Jan & Thor is full".

This happens to me day after day.  I reported this umber to the do not call website, but it continues!

yeah right I don't answer and it happens every so often but have answer machine got to check if it can be blocked will let you know......

Recorded message went on and on about cutting your credit card debt.  

We're on the Do Not Call list, but this number calls all the time.

Occasionally I receive quite annoying calls from (804) 212-4972.  When I answer the phone, I discover that a computer had called my cell phone.  This appears to be a form of harrassment.  Certainly I haver given my cell phone number to this (804) number.

1st call I got while tech was still here, press 1 to talk to someone ask to have # removed from list got hung up on. After the 3rd call today I pressed 1 again and asked to speak to a supervisor asked why explained that I want my # removed and continue to get hung up on, agent told me to just ignore the call click, hung up on again. Seeing as how I have been a retention and escalation supervisor I will press 1 again and go about getting a supervisor the way I would have calls either given or transferred to me, I want to  speak to a supervisor and refuse to tell the nature of the reason. If calls do not stop will call the better business bureau and report them. These calls are at least 4 times a week if not more.

annoying and intrusive. so much for being on the no call list.

How can we stop calls from Cell phone VA?  They come from different numbers and areas of the country with the same credit card mesage.

Private, unlisted number--these chuckleheads call constantly. I don't answer; I just block them.

They called my sons phone he is a minor and his number is on the do not call list

This is a credit card scam! Tell them that you are calling the police and or FBI as well as documenting the calls. That should make them stop. If not really call the police or FBI.

she (an 86 yr old elderly woman with alzheimer's) did not answer
any of their notices, that this is the last time they were going to call
about her credit status before it goes into collections ???

Sounds like this # is targeting the elderly to get Credit Card information
off of her.  Should the police be contacted?  What is this??

This is a credit card scam! If you press 1 and "play along", eventually they will ask you for your credit card number. The Do Not Call Registry will not help you, these are criminals that are calling. The best thing to do is to report them to the FTC and contact the police.

They called at 2:35pm. Answering machine on. No message left. I am on the DO NOT CALL LIST. What a [***] joke. I wish they were held accountable for this pestering harrassment but apparently nobody is smart enough to figure out how stop it from happening and no... I am NOT changing my phone number. I am unlisted and I have no idea how they got my  number to begin with being I don't even OWN a CC. and never have! They are too stupid! They keep calling me... a person who doesn't even HAVE ANY MONEY and if I did I sure as hell would not be stupid enough to give them my CC information over the damn telephone. Unreal.
