Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $50.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number. - VincentMan's voice with a heavy Indian accent claims to be an IRS agent name Kenneth Matthews and threatens arrest. If you received a call from this number, it is a scam. Don't call back; block the number or report it as a fraud.
- NathanMessage said, officer Kenneth Matthews IRS Washington office and it was a time sensitive matter. guy with a-heavy Indian accent
- Caller: IRS
- Call type: Debt collector
- ANONYMOUS| 1 replyI received a call from a "Kenneth Matthews" identifying himself as an IRS agent. Indian accent. Stated I needed to get a criminal lawyer because I owed the IRS money and I could take care of it out of court within 45 to 60minutes while on the phone, or settle it through the court. If I lost the case in court I would owe the IRS 95K dollars. Threatened me with arrest within an hour. He said I could settle the case via an EFTPS voucher that I could purchase at the nearest CVS Pharmacy. He said an agent would be by my house to 'counsel' me at the time of my choosing either today or tomorrow if I chose to settle out of court; he would have all the documents of the case against me, and would pick up the 'voucher' for the money which he said I owed if I chose to settle the matter out of court today. He asked me to decide what I wanted to do. I felt under duress and told him I wanted to settle out of court. He read the 'protocol' to me on 3 steps to meet in order to take care of it now. One part of the protocol was that I couldn't talk to anyone about this case otherwise the call would be cut off and I would have no other recourse but to go to court. The other part was that I couldn't mail a check in to the IRS...that I would have to pay via the EFTPS voucher. Asked me if I had the money at the house or if I would have to go get it at the bank. I was now suspecting something wasn't right, and told him that I would now rather take my chances with the court, and that God would be my defense and help cause I had done nothing wrong. I refused to give him my cell number which he asked for. He reprimanded me for taking up so much of his time by telling him that I wanted to settle out of court, and had now had changed my mind. He hung up on me. (It's been over an hour now, and no officer has shown up at my door, as he said, to arrest me!)
- Caller: Stated 'IRS Auditing Office'
- jolsenKenneth called me today with the same scam. I told him that it was ironic that he was calling me because I worked as an auditor for the IRS. (I'm not.. But I figured that one good scan deserved another). He cursed and hung up.

RS does not file lawsuits. Tax disputes are civil matters. 90% of all IRS tax disputes are settled administratively. IRS has absolutely no authority to call on local law enforcement for anything. Local law is never involved in IRS tax disputes. If LE is necessary, US Marshals do the job. IRS does not cold call anyone and all contacts are initiated by US mail. - John B.Got a call today from this guy threatening lawsuits and arrest. Suspect scam and typed in the number he gave and saw multiple calls that he made that all appear to be scams.
- Caller: Supposedly the IRS but obvious scam
- Call type: Debt collector
- Linda MortonIrish guy left a message saying I was going to be arrested by the I.R.S if I didn't contact him ASAP.Knew it was a scam.No guy born in Ireland would work for the I.R.S.
- BlakeOur good buddy Ken Mathews has been reported to the IG at Treasury. Now if they could only get off their [***] and arrest this scum bag. Didn't answer my phone took a voice mail. Ken good try buddy now go screw yourself.
- Vicky AGot the same call others report. He left voice mail, but the number didn't store in our phone. I just deleted it after reading the posts here. Thanks.
- Caller: "IRS" officer Kenneth Matthews
- Call type: Debt collector
- JHCaller said he was an officer with an accent. Said he was with the IRS and to call immediately.
Mentioned fraud, and a warrant for my arrest. - Kyle| 1 replySame thing. I called back because I knew it was a scam: IWith a thick accent) --> "Hello?" Hi, is this the IRS? "Yesss". Can I speak with officer Matthews? (silence) Can I speak with someone who speaks English? "Did you call to insult me?" No. What is your phone number? (silence, then click). I called back numerous times, because I was having fun with this. No answer then the call just wouldn't go through. Then I saw this posting. So much fun and it was so good, I had to smoke a carton of cigarettes!!
- Steve B replies to KyleI too got a call from scumbag Officer Mathews just about an hour ago. If you know anything about the IRS, you know that if you ever have dealings with them, they never call you on the phone - they will always contact you in writing.
I was happy to find this website so easily, and am grateful that all of you are taking the time to post these alerts. Unfortunately there are a lot of 'not so smart' people who fall for this sort of lame scam. I expect we will never see this sort of activity totally disappear.
Oh by the way, I have an uncle who's a King in Africa, and he wants to give you all of his money. Please contact me with your social security number and banking information, and I'll be sure to tell my uncle to send you the money right away.
Thanks! - LynnI received a threatening message on my answering machine from officer Kenneth Matthews telling me there was a legal petition and that I would be arrested if I did not take care of the matter and call him back. I called the number back and got "all circuits busy". I thought it was strange that officer Matthews never mention the name of the person that was going to be arrested. I googled the number and saw all your posts. Thanks for the info!
- Caller: IRS
- Mike H.Received two voicemail messages from officer Kenneth Matthews with same messages as others had posted ( warrant of arrest etc). I immediately googled his phone number and found this site. The next day I called him back and the scammer tried to pretend he is from IRS with an ID number etc. his accent just got worst as I continued asking him where he was calling from or what his real name is. He finally said " oh you don't believe me?" Then hanged up. I called back 20 more times and he hangs up each time. On the 21st call, he answered and changed his name, lmao. A cop friend of mine will call him next day. Let's see what happens.
By the way, he said he was calling from (8044) 613-428. Just by that, you know he's a dumb scammer. - WayneOne more for our good buddy Kenneth Matthews.....same type of threatening call left on voice mail and never identified who he wished to speak to. Will not be calling him back, and I'll be exploring the other avenues for reporting this. Hope someone deals with this schmuck !!!
- Caller: IRS Tax Audit - Officer Kenneth Matthews
- CassCame home to find the exact message on my VM - Officer Matthews, warrent for my arrest, etc. Knew it was BS because the IRS never calls anyone nor can they have you arrested in this manner but the dead give away was the phone number - it was given as 4 digits, then 3 and 3 = (8044) 613-428. No American would give a phone number this way. While this is a VA area code and this is the actual number that showed up on the caller ID (as a wireless phone), I doubt this caller is in America.
Came straight here to check on it - this site is the best! I have saved myself so much grief by never answering calls from numbers I do not recognize and I check them here first. Every strange numbered call I have gotten in the last 3 years I have found on this site! Thank you for being here!- Caller: IRS officer
- Call type: Debt collector
- KristenOfficer Kenneth Matthews is sure making the rounds! Same scam here...apparently I am guilty of tax fraud and he is filing a legal petition to issue a warrant for my arrest unless I return his call at 8044-613-428. Even though I knew it was total BS, it was nice to get validation here. Great site!
- Caller: IRS Officer Kenneth Matthews
- Will BI also received a call from Kenneth Matthew. He stated that he needed to talk first to tell me what the matter was all about. He told me that a lawsuit had been filed against me. That there was an audit for tax years 2008 - 2012. He also went on to tell me that I owed $6,981.00 for those tax years. That I needed to hire an attorney. I asked him to give me his badge number, which he stated was 714285 (I've worked for the IRS and knew that they would not call you and tell you all of this) I was told that I needed to hire an attorney. When I told him that I wanted to go to the local office and take my records he stated that they did not have my records that they were in Washington. I asked how did he come up with that figure. He stated it was just an estimate that for instance I could pay $1,000.00. He also told me that a local law enforcement would be here to put a lock on my home, seize my vehicle(s), and put a hold on all of my accounts. I stated to him that I would be taking my records to the local office he hung up; I called the number back and the recording stated he did not have anymore room on his voice mail.
