I received a second vm on July 19, 2017 approxinately 9:00 a.m.

The number came from (505) 300-1752.

Let call go to vmail. They said they were security and noticed problems with computer. If I didn't respond in 3 days I would permanently shut down. Fake call

Called me too. I called them back and heavily accented man identified himself as "Windows Security". Accent was thick, he was hard to understand. I told him I didn't use a Windows computer, that I was reporting his phone number, and he could **** off.

it's a threat to call back this number or legal action will be taken.

Same call detailed above, tempted to call them back and be immature by blowing a whiste  and telling them to get a real job. Too bad phones don't have a nuke button to push and deactivate this number.

Purporting to be security experts noticing errors on your computer.

Call from  Officer Charlie Williams with Microsoft windows. My computer sending serious messages and that they would prosecute in 3 days if I didn't call back. I uses a separate phone and questioned why they were calling me. replied something about back/black? cyber. I said I don't have Windows and they hung up.I called again and asked there location Orlando, FL. Fellows have distinctive  India accent. Is this a Scam?

Could not make out all voicemail. Said I must call back within two days or legal action will be taken against me

Something threating about computer security.

Robocall. The new text is funny, I laughed my head off, but contains a threat that will intimidate older people. Block immediately, and file complaint with FCC https://consumercomplaints.fcc.gov/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=39744 They will shut that number down after they have several consistent complaints.

I received the same call on November 7, 2017. Obviously a scam.

This is a scam please warn others there is nothing wrong with your computer . Google computer scams . Just hang up and block there number

do not call them back or anything it is a scam. they are trying to access your ip address. i called windows and they said he will ask for 400 dollars for it back

Said he was Microsoft security, his name was David Martin# 25050 from security. Said I have been hacked and my computer has been compromised And they have to get on my computer to fix and get info. If they don’t my IP will be turned of. HaHa Other # associated with this number: 800-767-7161/ 504-404-3107.

I fell for the scam. What do I do now?

Since the scammers accessed the computer, they probably did one or more of the following:
• Disabled the anti-virus software
• Added nasty malware to the computer
• Copied the Contact List (so they can spam/email your soon-to-be ex-friends)
• Copied any financial data or passwords they could find
• Compromised your ID on Facebook or other social site(s), and perhaps on shopping sites.
• "Zombied" the computer, so it would respond to THEIR commands sent via internet
• Deleted some important files
• Asked for money to repair the damage they caused

What can you do immediately after such an attack?
1.  Pull the cables on the computer, or otherwise disable it, so it cannot access the internet.
2.  Change ALL  passwords stored on the computer.
3.  Run FULL malware scans on the computer, in "SAFE" mode!
4.  Change the passwords again, particularly if the malware scans showed anything.
5.  Inform your bank and credit card companies.
6.  Sign up for credit monitoring, and check the status frequently
7.  Backup non-executable personal, data files to an external storage device.  (Executable files might be infected).
8.  You may have to bring the computer to a local repair shop, and tell them the story.
9.  Tell friends what happened, so they can be aware of strange emails from you.
10.  Connect to the internet only AFTER all the above have been done.
11.  Change the passwords on all online accounts.  Even better - access a "safe", uninfected  computer, and change your online account passwords RIGHT NOW.

NOTE:
If your computer set a "Restore Point" while it was infected, any "System Restore" you make will re-infect your computer.  Suggest you delete any potentially infected restore points and avoid setting such restore points until after your computer has been thoroughly cleaned!

Honest computer companies do NOT cold-call people, or cause popups from websites to tell them their computers need fixing!

Some scammers even have websites, and falsely advertise they are associated with popular software packages or computer companies; so do NOT believe a "we will fix your computer remotely" site, and allow them access to your computer!
