The person who keeps harassing me if a foreign gentleman by the name of Jeff.  His voicemail message says he works for a financial company, but when I actually answered the call, he would not tell me where he was calling from.  I asked him to take me off whatever list I am on and he said he wouldn't and would keep calling me

I got a call from this # and the kqn with an Indian accent tried to say he was with the IRS and I owed money. Tried to say I was being watched for fraud and he was calling to give me a chance to pay it before they prosecute. Total fraud and calling IRS next.

received a call and voicemail round 11:07 am the first time the three more after that.  His name is Stewart from ACS Collections for IRS and a lein on my taxes was being issued as well as warrant for my arrest.
I called back, got two different people they try to make you think that anyway but it was the same person....couldn't speak English, very broken, telling me that since 2003 I haven't paid taxes and then he said it was for "wrongful unearned credit" on my taxes and they had mailed out five notices to my address which he told me and was wrong but I didn't give him my address, just told him I was calling the IRS to discuss this with them not him someone that buys numbers and harasses people!
Oh and another thing....I didn't file taxes in 2003 because I didn't start back to work until 2005!

This was completely the correct thing to do.  The IRS doesn't call you to tell you they put a warrant out for your arrest.  And a lien on your taxes?  They for sure don't put a lien on your taxes, they will take money from your payroll to pay for back taxes, but this is a step they take when you just flat out ignore them and not work with them.

The IRS Collections department wouldn't actually Identify themselves as ACS, they would flat out identify themselves as the IRS.  They also will give you their ID number if you ask for it, as its a law we must do so.

If you are ever unsure if it is the IRS ALWAYS feel free to call them, any representative will be happy to set you straight and to give you a number to report such fraud, or you can go to irs.gov and get how to report such scams..  :)

Yes, this is a scam. They just tried to call me to give me a loan. I let the guy speak and he got all the way to where they ask you to "prove your financial stability" do not load a "green dot card" or "reload" card. Do not give them the pin. Don't be stupid like I was in the past. This is a scam.

    Glad you were not scammed!

    Read this:
"It is illegal for companies doing business by phone in the U.S. to promise you a loan or credit card and ask you to pay for it before they deliver."
    http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0078-advance-fee-loans

If you or a friend need a loan, you really should read this:
    http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0153-choosing-credit-counselor

In fact, the more you need the money, the more urgent it is to read that information!

    Protect yourself!
Recognize that NO legitimate company is going to offer you a loan, without their doing some background / credit checks on you, and they WILL generally need a snailmailed, signed contract.

If you or a friend fell for the scam, please try to educate your other friends.  The only way to stop these scams is to cut off their source of money!
