This appears as a Virginia number but is routed back to Kentwood Law Group which is located in Montclair California.  They are a law firm that, among other things, buy unsecured debts from credit card companies, and others.  Then the Account Receivable Specialists use high pressure sales tactics to get debtors to come up with a large amount of cash upfront before they will negotiate a long term payment arrangement.  It's reminiscent of the old 'boiler room' days of stock brokers.  If you get a call from these people, they must send you correspondence first informing you that they now are handling your account.  Do not negotiate with them until you receive correspondence as they may not actually have the debt--only trying to collect for the other party.  
Best advice - call your own attorney first to be sure any settlement is in your best interest.  Don't worry about your attorney's fee.  The actual settlement amount and your attorney fee will be less than what you might end up paying these people.

This is the Law Office of Sidney Mickell.  The Kentwood Law Group seems to be a bogus front as there is nothing listed with the BBB.  However, the attorney Sidney Mickell has 20 BBB complaints.  According to the BBB his address is 5050 Polo Verde St. Ste. 113, Montclair, CA 91763 (909) 568-0750.  I also found on the internet a fax from this slimball to a lady in Califrornia.  This fax has this lady's name, address, phone number, her credit card account number, and the amount she owes on her credit card!!!!!!  I doubt this lady knows that all this personal information has been posted on the internet.  Think I will print it out and send it to her and let her know.

I have been getting phone calls from 1-804-952-9899 five to six times a day and i just dont answer the phone when i see that number, but now they are callng with the 909-568-0750 and 360-885-4395 numbers because they leave a message after the calls saying that they are the Kentwood law group calling to discuss an important matter with me. And one of their calls were blocked and i don't answer blocked or unknown calls.Idon't like trickery.

Actually this is not true, regarding that your attorney fees & any settlement payment would be less. And another thing, yes the law firm may have purchased the debt to collect on it; HOWEVER, most times its the client (ie the credit card company or  car loan, or bank or hospital or who ever) gave you the debt in the first placed HIRED this law firm to help collect on the debt. I used to work for a law firm that specialized in helping collect a debt.

They bring the client in, i.e. the credit card company such as Citi or whomever, they show the client how they are the best at collecting debt, the client then decides if they will allow that law firm to help collect on the debt.

if they get hired, they have every right to call you to collect on that debt. AND another thing, it may seem as if the debt collector is timid and hangs up as soon as you answer, this is NOT the case DUH. Its more than likely the system is calling automatically (which is how it dials anyway, by computer while the debt collector sits in front of the computer screen) sometimes the system is flawed and hangs up the calls immediately after dialing. This happened all the time where I used to work. And we didnt call that same person back right away because we were on a "dialer" so no way to call that person back until later. Sometimes we could call back asap. just depended.

Now going back to setteling, you can save your self a LOT of money setteling accounts on your own, you can say no to the offers they give you and say this is all I have, then that collector has to go back to the client and say this is the amount debtor is offering can we accept or not.  This is how it happens ALL the time, wheather you use an attorney or not. A debt attorney will NOT get you a better deal. They still have to see what the client will accept as an offer. Of course they are not going to tell you this because they want your money. You as a consumer/debtor can settle all your accounts on your own.

However, one thing I agree with, get a letter faxed to you from that company stating what the settlement or hardship program amount that is agreed a upon. Then make your payment/s

Kentwood Law Group is actually just a low level, poorly run collection agency. Don't deal with them. They cannot be trusted. They treat you like dirt and laugh at you when you explain your circumstances. Completely unprofessional and well-known for their dirty tactics and underhanded ways. They cannot even employ anyone who is even the least bit polite. They are trained to be obnoxious liars and that's all they are. Richard Geitz, who runs this scam, is well-known as a bottom feeding collection professional.

My husband and I have been receiving 2 or 3 calls per day from this group for over a month.  I finally attempted to call today to get them straightened out that they have the wrong person.  I was being firm and assertive.  The [***] who answered began by telling me my husband lied to me and does have debts with some company I have never heard of. He said they kept calling because we never answer our phone.  No, I do not pick up for unknown numbers or from THAT group. He became more abusive and kept telling me to shut up and listen to him.  I finally hit my limit and told him to f...off and hung up.  I calmed down and called back and said I was sorry I went off, but they have the wrong person and I wanted to get it straight  and end these calls now.  I asked to speak to another person.  He told me that I should apologize to him and try being nicer and I refused.   I guess we are at a stand off.  I am at least somewhat satisified to see they are a bunch of scumbags, but we are not even the correct target and have to keep taking the abuse and repeated calls?  Any way to stoop them?

These a**holes called my son's CELL phone # to reach either my husband or myself -- how are they getting cell phone numbers?  If someone can answer that it would be greatly appreciated.

I too get calls from this number on my cell phone... I don't answer calls that I don't recognize or that have no caller ID... they don't leave messages and I;m glad they don't so I don't have to waste my time calling my cell phone for messages...

I've been getting an automated phone call from the Kentwood Law Group, asking me to call them at 866-204-3786. I've also received calls saying that I owe money and do I live on El Camino Real, which I don't. Also they ask is my name Dennis E xxxxxx and I tell them I've never lived on El Camino Real and my middle initial is A. I've received 3 person to person calls and now 3 of these automated calls and it's getting annoying. Are these people just stupid?

They have called twice now for my ex husband. I'm sure he does owe any number of people money, but it has nothing to do with me. They admitted that I am not on the accounts they are servicing, and I have given them any and all phone numbers I have for him, but it is time for them to stop.

I am receiving threanting calls on my work phone. They start calling at 7:30 until after 3:00 pm. I can not accept personal phone calls and I want this stopped. This is a bill from my son and she says shes Ms. Page. Threatening me and telling me I have  3 pymts of $360 a month, this is 1/2 my paycheck.The stress is unbeleivable. I cant lose my job over threats on my buisness phone. She says her #382-7828 ext. 141. I have never gotten any mail from them and only threats on the phone.

These [***] have been calling me relentlessly, cursed, swore, and made threats against my elderly mother threatening they will take her to jail and they will 'send someone' to her home to collect on the debt. They wont even identify the client (socalled client) The woman yelled at my mom and pretty much called her a liar (i heard the conversation on speakerphone). They threatened to take her social security check, which is against the law. I filed a police report against them and filed a formal complaint with the attorney generals office. DONT GIVE THESE [***] A DIME...THEY ARE A SHAM OPERATION!

This agency, if you can call it that, was unprofessional and completely rude. They threatened me and laughed when I tried to explain my circumstances!  Then when I tried to work something out, they refused to set up payments because they wanted the amount in full. They are a scam and I reported them to the BBB!

My parents are getting harrassing call at 336-885-9585 EVERY SINGLE DAY FOR MY BROTHER, Andrew Smith,  who passed away in a car accident. That means every day, you all are reminding us he's dead. Thanks for stabbing that knife. Leave us alone!!!!

I apparently got a phone called today, from 855-382-7828 looking for my neighbor.  They asked if i knew her and i said yes, but i do not have a number for them.  She said to give them her number. Priscilla Mordena ext 111. Like I am going to give my neighbor the  message.  I know it has to be from an old debt, but how embarrassing to give someone a message that you don't even talk too.  All these so called "collectors" are skip tracing and looking online thru their skip tracing tools.  They can find cell phones numbers based off who's ever social security number they have on their files and they can locate neighbors by finding near addresses near the borrower, online with superpages, whitepages, google, etc....Watch out they can find out where you are working at too and call your place of employment.  Don't put any contact info on Facebook, they are able to find your number on their and work place...

These people are scumbags!  They are also liars!  They will call anyone in the phone book, in any state, with a similar last name.  It doesn't matter that they have your home and work numbers, but they try to get everyone involved, as if any other person involved will write a check and pay them for whatever they are trying to collect.  They filed a lawsuit against me and claimed that they served the papers on my husband when they did not.  They even filed the Proof of Service with the court, saying they did.  I work for a law firm and we will fight them tooth and nail!  We will teach them a lesson -- those lying [***]!
