Just received call and said they were from "Windows".  Not according to this article:

One of our users just received call.  Fortunately they called me (help desk) before giving information.  I'm amused that there are two people "reporting" here - that's you "steven" and "peter" - that are verifying this hoax/fraud.  I guess that means that posts aren't heavily reviewed or moderated.

Buyer beware...

This is a MALICIOUS call center.  My call was from a man who claimed to be affiliated with Microsoft.  They claim there's a problem with your computer, then guide you to install remote administration software (ShowMyPC) and them give them access to your computer.  NEVER GIVE ACCESS TO YOUR COMPUTER TO SOMEONE YOU DO NOT KNOW!

Got email about bogus Amazon order and to call 805-500-6557. This is a scam to get your personal information. Delete the email immediately.

Received an email from “Amaz0n” (note the zero). These people don’t know how to bcc and instead cc (visible) 500 other people the same email. Don’t call them! Obviously they want you to call and provide your personal info.
