Hi,

this person named Lynn Alfred is wanting me to rent a room from them on craigslist but their number is +234 805 777 3811. I am a little suspicious on this person and the number.

Yes, this looks like a scam.  The name I was given was Rosa Carter with an email - jamescarter1981@live.com

I've also got a reply from the same number. I wanted to rent their apartment. It was also signed Rosa Carter.

It all a lie am not a scam.

It not a scam and you are liers because i refused to rent to you for one reason or the other.

Yeah, well no one's refused to rent to me because I never replied to the e-mail I got from Rosa Carter. It had all the classic signs of a Nigerian scam -- too good to be true price, blatant English mistakes, landlord located in West Africa, "I just want someone to take care of my apartment/kitten/other object," "I'm a person of my word", etc., etc., etc. Not to mention I know that almost all the buildings owned in that particular neighborhood are owned by a university that rarely rents to other than its students! :-(

The same e-mail address shows up in scam warnings on Brittish classified ad web sites showing exact monetary amounts buyers were defrauded of, bank accounts the scammer used, etc. At least this one's limited to the English-speaking world and doesn't show up on web sites in Germany and Spain like others I've seen!
