- Nita12/29/09 Got the same call on my cell phone! It was a recording. I hung up. It is a fraud ...
- noahwun| 1 replyI also got a call from this number, automated voice telling me about reducing my credit card interest rates. I don't have a credit card. Pressed "9" to find out about how they got my number. Passed on to second person who evaded my question about what his business is, what it's called. They work with several companies, so he'd need my name and phone number to find out which. Gave him my name and number, he hung up on me. Grrrrr...
- carigisthis is fraud.. notify the police immediatly.. 000 is SPOOFED exchange. there is no 000 phone exchange. They claim to be cardmember services calling to lower your rate.. however after connecting you.. they ask who am I speaking with (they called you remember... shouldn't they know?) I told them calling from a spoofed telephone number was illegal and I was notifying the police. they laughed and hung up. which no legitimate company would do. See if your phone provider has a call trace feature.. you press * then (varies on provider) and the previous call is traced and info held for police. This is BLATENT FRAUD.. notify the police at once.
- Caller: Name Unavailable
- Carigisaddl information: This is definatly these guys...IF you gave them your credit card number call your card services and have them cancel out the number and issue you a new card with a new number (not a replacement card with the same number).
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Missouri attorney general is warning consumers about a phishing scam concealed as a call to lower your credit card interest rate.
Consumers say the caller claims to be from "Card Services." You are then asked to dial a number which is typically 9 if you are interested in lowering your credit card rate.
Then, you are asked for your credit card number to see if you qualify for this lower rate. Attorney General Chris Koster says it's just an attempt to steal your credit card information.
"This is a typical phishing scam, in that it tries to play on consumers’ emotions and excitement at the idea of saving money," Koster said. "But as always, consumers should never give out their personal information to anyone who contacts them."- Caller: Crediit Card FRAUD
