very rude want stop calling

Very rude, spoke to a "John Miller aka the one and only", insists on his caller ID that I am "Jonathan".  Hey Einstein, my legal name on all of my paperwork says "John".  I politely asked him/them to stop calling my number because they have the wrong person and if not I will have law enforcement engaged, before I could finish he hung up on me.

This person said they were a debt collector.  I have no past due debt

This person was calling my number for something that was my son's before even calling him. Son is 24 years old funny thing is he then called him and attempted to tell him what he could and could not do with a debt he owed an apartment place in which he had already set and made arrangements with them. When my son explained what he had done and this is what would be done and he had just moved and it had not been but 2 days since he had moved he attempted to tell him what his rights were in Ohio the funny thing was he is not in Ohio nor does he have a law degree for the state he resides in as well.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
