caller asked to speak to my husband.  I asked what the call was in reference and the caller said because of legal reasons that he could not devulge that information.  I told him that in that case, my husband would not return his call.  he said, "well, that would be my husbands problem then."  caller was very rude.  call was made on 3/11/08 at about 8:00 p.m.

This number has called my phone multiple times and when I ask them who is speaking they just continue to say my name. I told them I would not tell them if they person they were asking for was available until they told me who they are and they (like the person above) said they could not tell me for legal reasons.

A guy call me and said it is importanat that I call him back,did not leave a reason for calling me.

They are from Hunter-Warfield...a collection agency that pretends to be an atty.  They try to collect back rents from old leases/property managers;  These people need to be reported for bad practices.  Don't give them any information....They just like to threaten people and it is illegal.  Better yet..just don't answer the phone.  The gentlemen that called me today stated that he was going to make his decision "with or without me"...however, they have been telling me this for the past 2 years.

They are leaches, plain and simple.

Hunter Warfield is what they say they are - supposed to be attorneys...Attorneys do not call to tell you papers have been filed to check with your local district attorney.  They are leaches and annoyances.  Do not give them any info.  Also when I told them to take my number off their list and do not call me again, they continue anyway so I call them back with a bogus name and tell them this is not a good number for the person they looking for and demand they take the number off their list.  Indian accent and bogus attorneys.....fraudulent people and harrassing

This is a common ploy by criminals attempting to extort money from people by scaring you into believing that you will be criminally charged, go to jail, lose your driver’s license, have wages garnished, be sued, and a variety of other variations on this,  all for an alleged or nonexistent debt.  They also use the “process server” who calls and claims he is going to serve you, but then says you could avoid it by calling another number.  Now why would a “process server” want to do you, a stranger, a favor, and at the same time not get paid to deliver the papers?

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
