This number called from Verona, IL on 9/19/19 at 10:59am.The caller said, in a recorded message, that the call was for Dewey Travis. Gave a file number; LP 11657. Caller pretended to be a federal official and demanded that I respond either by pressing one to speak to a live rep, or by calling back at 844-417-5776. I called.  Someone named J B Robinson. answered, gave company name but had such a thick accent I couldn't understand him. I told him they'd been calling my number for Dewey Travis for ten years and I keep telling them they have the wrong number.  also told him I was calling my lawyer. He said he would take my number off his call list. I've heard that for ten years and they keep calling and are now getting very threatening.

Rose, I've had them call me for over 5 years for a Donna Matthews on my personal cell number I've had since 1998. Somehow her account got tied to my phone number. Lexis Nexus typo likely. Today, I figured out how to make them stop. I called back and said LP19653 is Donna Matthews and I am not her. Please correct your record. Then I called back and got James and said the same thing. Then Rachel (twice) then again and again and I informed them I was going to call back every 30 seconds until they removed my number for Donna Matthews. They said something but I talked over them non-stop for the entire length of the call. At first, when I was done speaking, I hung up. Eventually, they began to hang up on me. Then after 13 direct calls, they blocked my number. LOVE IT! They called themselves "consumer advisors" and a Catherine Taylor left the message. I think they have been selling this debt repeatedly and each time I get them to agree to remove my number, they sell it again without an update. There ought to be remediation for this. Once I looked up Ms Mathews and found that a Donna Mathews passed away in the area my number is from. This is medical debt that she owes. Tragic. I hope I don't get any more calls. Maybe you should try this method of annoying them. I told them that too. I was going to call back every 30-seconds until they were annoyed instead of me. Good luck to you.

The first step in solving a problem is finding out, in this case, who is creating the problem.  That would require the name of this debt collection company.  Once that is established you can then file complaints with both federal and state agencies and also sue them.
