- KrissiI received a call from an Abigail at this number and Ms. Abigail informed me that I needed to pay $1000.78 for a bad check I was supposed to have written back in 08 and if I did not pay, a warrant would be issued for my arrest. The only problem with this is, I did not have ANY kind of bank account in 2008! I didn't even have a job back then! As a matter of fact I was on unemployment! And when I told her that I was going to obtain an attorney for this matter, she didn't seem to want to talk to me anymore. I have since tried to call her back and left several messages for Ms. Abigail but for SOME reason she will not return my calls?!? Whats up with that? If anyone receives a call from this number, I suggest they really look into these people because something is DEFINITELY not right with them!

- Joey| 2 repliesMy sister got a call asking for me for the same issue as Krissi above. Said that there was a warrant out for my arrest for bad checks and that I needed to pay. Why would they call my sister and not me directl? I asked what accts that were used and she couldn't tell me. Informed Abigail that i would give Tel # to police and report this, have not heard from here since...

- Alfalfa replies to JoeyConsumers across the country report that they're getting telephone calls from people trying to collect on loans the consumers never received or on loans they did receive but for amounts they do not owe. Others are receiving calls from people seeking to recover on loans consumers received but where the creditors never authorized the callers to collect for them. So what's the story?
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:
is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.
Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>
http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/alerts/alt076.shtm - Ms. "P" replies to JoeyAbigal calls from 816-759-0509 and states that she is with the check fraud division and is working out of an Attorney Office called Willima & Moore. She also threated to either collect money from you or have a warrant put out for your arrested........she has called several of my family members and told them that there was a investigation going on and needed to get in contact with me. Later I found out that she is not the only one doing the calling there are several of them calling from different numbers...another name and number is Tonya Scott which calls from 817-759-0501. This is a new tactic that they are now using to scare ppl to get them to pay money.....If they can not provide you with a written state me or proper information concerning the debt, than trust me they are not real....It is very sad that these type of ppl go around doing things like this and has gotten away with it.....Well the buck stops here!!!!!!!!

- Someone Who Wants Answers replies to lady loveI find it funny that the last comment was just posted and seeing how Ms. Abigail told me to google her number, so I did with her on the phone, and I asked her "Have you ever googled your number?" she replied no and I proceeded to tell her these claims posted here. Now all of a sudden there's a post that it's not fraud. I contacted my attorney and am waiting for a phone call back. I will press charges for stress; and trust me I have one of the top attorneys in the Northeast!

- upsetI received phone calls from family members that an Abigail is looking for me because I have an outstanding warrant. I called my county and state and found out that I do not have any warrants nor did I have any in the past. After researching the phone number 816-759-0509 on the intranet, I saw several complaints lodged against Abigail.
I spoke with a Ms. Dickens, who said that I had written a fraudulent check in 2008 to a check cashing store. I professionally let her know I have to research it because it is not in my nature to do anything of the sort. I further went on to say, that it is inappropriate, to randomly call people and tell them that there is an outstanding warrant for me for writing a fraudulent check and if this continues I would take seek legal help for slandering my name. To my greatest surprise Ms. Dickens got very angry accused me of coming to this country and taking people's monies. I calmly let her know that I was born in this country, continued on top of her voice, so I simply said good-bye and hung up. I would love to know how they get family members name and phone numbers who does not have my last name or live in the same state with me. - LindaI just got a call today on my daughters cell phone. But I didn't recognize the number so I didn't answer it. Glad I didn't. I will have to tell my daughter not to answer any number she doesn't recognize. An since this is a pre-paid cell phone, I don't know how they even got this number since they aren't registered with anyones name.
