- nyc| 1 replyThis number keeps calling with recorded voice asking for my debit card number.
I called Wamu/Chase and they said it sounded very suspicious.
DO NOT CALL THEM BACK. - Not Fooled in NJ| 1 replySame deal as most people above. Automated call asking to call back to 866-553-1745. What's concerning is that they had my name as it appears on the card as well as the last 4 digits of the card. Also called Chase (from number on back of debit card), and they claimed there were no issues and took the report of the call for their records. Did not try to call 866 number.
- Caller: They claimed it was Washington Mutual
- NJMight be legit (866-553-1745 is on the Wamu site)...
https://www.wamu.com/search/default.asp?query=How+do+I+activate+my+Debit+card?- Caller: Claimed WaMu
- NZSame deal, and they kept calling me every day for a week, even i was oversea. just block the number
- Call type: Unwanted
- not stupidI ignored the call when it came thru because I didn't recognize the name Paragon. When I listened to voice mail, I thought it might be a phishing scam, so I googled the caller i.d. # 817.524.0090 and found this site. I haven't called the number they left and won't.
I hope others don't fall for this. - Suspicious Long Is. replies to nycThis phone number appears on back of the new Wamu/Chase card. I just blocked the number anyway.
- scifichik| 1 replyVoicemail left to call 1-866-553-1745 and when I called it stated that it was a card activation line and asked for me to "please enter your card number and pound key. I hope no one is stupid enough to do this! This is such an awful scam!!!

- some infoI think this is actually a legit call. Washington Mutal is becoming Chase now, and I received a new debit card, but didn't activate it. I received a call pretty early in the morning, didn't answer, but they had my name and asked me to call the 866-533-1745 number to activate my card. I took out my card and the sticker with the activation number is just that 866-533-1745.
Also I looked on the WaMu website and they give the same number to activate.
If you are getting this call and don't bank with WaMu or Chase, it's probably just a mistake, so you don't need to call the number. It's only to activate a new card....so if you don't have one just ignore it. If you have one and feel uncomfortable with calling the number back, just activate your card in person at the bank or online.- Caller: Chase/WaMu

- hi817-524-0090 called me twice this morning and left a vocie message saying it's from WaMu about my ATM or debit card and need me to call this number back(866) 553-1745.
- sreysrahwthis number call my home a few times. I'm tired of them. How do I block them from calling my home number? It's annoying.
- Call type: Valid
- Danny SWe got two calls about three days apart. The message said to return the call to 866.553.1745. I called the number, but like other posts, they ask for my card number followed by the pound sign. I refused to enter that, so I got a person. She asked for the card number, our account number , or social security number so that she could look up the account. When I refused to give out any of that information, she told me that I could go into a WaMu branch for further inquiries. I called my local WaMu branch and they confirmed that it was a scam. We did have a card issued that we have never received. So, it was probably intercepted via the mail, they looked up the phone number with the address, and called us to get enough information to do some damage.
DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION!
Here's a thought though; I think we should ALL call the 866 number and keep them on the line for as long as we possibly can. The longer we tie up their lines, the fewer unsuspecting people they can victimize!- Caller: Paragon Fr In
- GTOWNTX replies to scifichikWAMU SWITCH TO CHASE AND AT THE TIME WAMU SENT OUT NEW DEBIT/CREDIT CARDS AND IF YOU HAD NOT ACTIVATED THE CARD MAYBE THAT WHAT IT FROM. I have a new chase debit master card but had not activated it yet,the card has to be activated by June I believe or the old wamu debit/credit card will not work.
i would ask wamu if you call if it has something to do with that or chase . - J&VThis number called us repeatedly starting last night.
We never pick up, then today I did, and it "claimed" to be WaMu/Chase.
I called Chase/WaMu and they said it wasn't them and they'd take the report down...- Caller: "Texas Call"
- plsgtrlI recently recieved my new chase debit card. And failed to activate it.So they called me.The number on the front of the debit to call to activate is 1-866-553-1745.I am pretty sure this is a legite call.unless the crooks went to alot of trouble to send out fake debit cards. And yes my new debit card works.
