- RogerToday at 11:25 A.M. received a call from 818-901-1147. They claim to be Microsoft techs and that I show to have a breech on my home pc especially when searching the internet (which would be undetected by me). So I said what if I do are you going to fix it - oh yes - if minor problem no charge - if major problem then $199.00. I said no way Jose I don't care if my pc crashes and he was taken aback. I asked him where he was calling from he said Florida, then a lady supervisor came on the line asking if I was online told her no - that I had to go downstairs and I then asked for her MS id - she hung up - end of call. Phishing scam for business in my opinion.

- AnnePhone call at 7:15 am wanting to speak to my husband. It was about our computer. When I realized the time, I was awake enough to realize it was a scam. I told them it was 7:15 am here and I refused to speak to anyone at that time and hung up on them. Definitely a scam. Call was from Van Nuys, CA.
- Spankin' ElroySame as most of these - Indian guy says right off the bat 'I was able to get into your windows computer' - I said 'That's funny, I don't run windows' to which he replied 'oh, you run on Mac' and I said 'NOOOOO' and he hangs up.....which was best I suppose as I was already running late this morning, but I sure would have liked to of had some fun with it

- Fed up| 2 repliesThis is outrageous I get calls from these human feces scammers all the time. I blame the phone companies and the politicians that take their lobby money because they profit from it. We really need to call them out and vote them out of office if they continue.

blocked - NetI was on my computer when I got a "warning" about a possible virus attack. I couldn't get out of the message so I just manually shut down my computer. Not even a minute later, I get a call from this number (818-901-1147) but I didn't answer and went on the internet to find out it was a scammer. It frightened me that they had my phone number!!!
- Matt| 1 replyNo ID, no message. I don't answer unless I know who's calling. A shame, really, I would have loved to play games with the guy (45 years of computer programming experience has its benefits, believe me) but it's really better to simply not answer the phone. Legit callers not on my call list will leave a message; all others are telemarketers and SCAMMERS and aren't worth my time. Thanks to all for your comments. Blocked.
- Caller: No ID
- LoriWanted access to my computer. Hung up on them. Getting quite a few calls from them. This happened to me months ago and was taken in by them as they tried to hold my computer hostage so to speak. Week not fall for this twice

- MikeHuntletonMessage from Microsoft:Quote:Remember, Microsoft will never proactively reach out to you to provide unsolicited PC or technical support. Any communication we have with you must be initiated by you.
Cybercriminals often use publicly available phone directories, so they might know your name and other personal information when they call you. They might even guess what operating system you're using.
Once they've gained your trust, they might ask for your user name and password or ask you to go to a legitimate website (such as www.ammyy.com) to install Remote Access software that will let them access your computer to pretend to fix it. Once you do this, your computer and your personal information are vulnerable.
Do not trust unsolicited calls. Do not provide any personal information. Do not allow them access.

- Annoyed replies to no oneI got the same exact call. Told them to get a real job and quit trying to rip people off, and told them to stay on the line for just 2 more minutes because their location was being traced. They hung up quickly.
- Bear-Flag| 1 replyOn Labor Day, I got two calls several hours apart despite my number being on the DNC list, and an automated call screening device specifically asking that I be taken off any call list. I never answered, and no message was left. There was no caller ID info. I blocked the number after the second call.
- BigA replies to Bear-FlagThey use a computer dialing system to make calls. It can't and won't do anything with the message about call screening since it does nothing but dial numbers over and over and over.
