Got a voice mail from 800-461-1662 "Cynthia" stating from Statistics Canada asking me to call 833-266-9910 and giving me an apparently random 8-digit reference number. I called the 833 number and the person who answered said it was Statistics Canada and asked for my reference number. I gave the reference number and was then told they would call me back and what number should they call. When I answered "the number they just called me at", that was apparently not OK, so I said I wasn't in the habit of giving out info to random 800 callers. Has to be a scam, as any real operation would have taken the reference number and been able to see the details.

Also received call (voice mail) saying it was Statistics Canada, gave a case number, please call back anytime - evenings and weekends for my convenience.  1-833-266-9910. Will not call back thank you to others for posting this.

This is statistics Canada. If you call them back they will provide several ways to verify their identity or that the survey you are selected for is in collection (on gov website or by looking up the # and calling yourself)

Thanks for verifying that this is a scam and that you one of the scummy scammers.  There was absolutely no valid reason to look the number up if what you claim is true.
