I also received the number from 833-588-137 save they were with SSA and was approved for
full benefits

Received a text from this number:
Please call elva from Social Security at 510970XXXX
Also received an email with the same request.
They wanted pension income information for my Social Security application.

Got text from number 833.588.1937 please call SSA 888-221-8329 ext.27882 .
Mailee Discuss your letter. They need to write me letter not text

5/8/2023: Text read "Please call Please call in regarding payee apt at 866-331-7082 ext. 23253", but text was from 833-588-1937. I did not respond and blocked 833-588-1937.

claimed to be social security and had it displayed as the contact. weird thing is the number they called me on isn’t the number the SSA has. strange. big scam. guy who called me is johnny ho.

Got a call from the same number. I googled what they told me to call and it came up with the local ssa office so they’re getting incredibly sophisticated because they paid to make it look like a real number. However the number I got the text from is fraudulent.

Me and my roommate got texts from this number today the number is not ssi. says meeting scheduled and call ssi..and provides legit #
Feels scammy.

I got a text from this number.  It said from SSA,  and asked me to call 877-30401566 ext. 15339 to submit my US passport or certificate.

I also got a text message from this number telling to call the number of the regional office at 1(855) 420-8556 ext. 18002 and talk to some girl called Shana without giving me a single reason. The number in the message is legit. There is only one big problem. The local office here in Iowa is closed on the weekend.

no reason for ssa to be texting me please call S Johnson.  also number texting and number to call did not match. seems suspicious.  I texted a reply that their netflix membership was on hold.

I received a text from 833-588-1937 and it said message from SSA and to please call MS. LANDRY at my cell number.  I think this is a scam.

The Social Security Administration doesn't initiate contact by phone but by US mail.

Forward unwanted spam/scam texts to 7726 (SPAM) and let your phone service provider deal with them.
That number was set up by the phone companies to combat spam texts and they can shutdown offending phone numbers.
Never reply with "STOP", scammers will not honor the request (they have no honor to begin with) and it only verifies that they have texted to a valid number and a person who reads their texts.  It will not STOP the texts and may actually make them more frequent.
Never click on a link in such a text as it may cause malware to be inserted on your phone, and even if it does not, just as with replying "STOP" the scammers will know they reached a valid number.
Do not repost any links included in the text message to sites such as this one.

No...SSA will never call you unless you first ask them to do so.

Are expecting all those people to stop back after a year to reply to you?  Tell me, can you think of one way that you could find out directly from them?  Can you?  One single way that you will be 100% sure of who you are talking to?  Think about it.
