I defaulted on 2 Amex revolving products and they're making a reasonable effort to contact me. For now, I block all forms of communication from creditors, including removing the SIM card from my phone that creditors consider my known number of record. I inserted the SIM card in my phone today and saw a text msg asking me to call this phone number. The originating number the text was sent from was spoofed. I'm wondering if this is legal and as a California resident I'm going to save this msg and participate in a future class action settlement if one occurs.
Hey Amex, if you're reading this: I'll pay when I am able to.- Caller: American Express

- Tim replies to HazelThis is defiantly a scam. American Express accounts have been current for 25 years. Call AMEX Customer Service directly at the phone number on the back of the card.
